There are jars in the media center for each grade to donate their spare change throughout the week. THE GOAL IS TO REACH $300 BY FRIDAY!! YEARBOOK INFORMATION Lock in your 2014-15 "This Is How We Roll" Yearbook before January 11 when prices increase by $7.00. Currently, the price for an all-color yearbook is $35 or $40 with a name-stamp. Starting January 11, prices will increase to $42 for a yearbook or $47 for a yearbook with a name-stamp. Sales will continue until April 15 before closing. Yearbooks can be purchased here at FHS with Mrs. Rohdy or online through the Herff Jones link on the high school portion of the school website, www.farwellschools.net. Payment plans are available (in school sales only) with a $10 deposit with the balance being paid by April 15. Due to the generosity of local businesses, there are $10 and $20 yearbook scholarships available to help offset the price of the book. Students that are interested in this scholarship opportunity need to write a brief essay (500 words or less) on what high school involvement and high school memories mean to them. Those essays with their name and grade printed on them need to be turned into Mrs. Rohdy by next Monday, January 12. Reminder to seniors: Senior pictures MUST be turned in by March 1 or student ID pictures will be used on the senior pages of the yearbook. NO EXCEPTIONS. Financial Aid and Scholarship Information – Updated January 6, 2015 Attention Seniors and 5th Year Early College Students – NOW is the time to collect your information to fill out the 2015-16 School Year FAFSA. The website for completing the FAFSA is www.fafsa.gov. To qualify as a possible recipient of the Son’s of the American Legion Squadron 404 Scholarship, an individual must meet all of the following criteria: Be a graduating senior at Farwell, Clare, or Harrison; pursuing a degree at an accredited college, university, or trade school; display leadership and community service involvement at school, church, or in an organization like 4H, boy/girl scouts, etc.; and have a parent or grandparent that has served in the Military in some capacity and must provide proof of this service. Scholarships Continued… Edith Irene (Stinchcombe) Geiseler Scholarship: Deadline January 20, 2015 A $2000 scholarship for a Farwell High School senior who is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education, Horticulture, Floriculture or Floral Design. See Mrs. Rohdy for an information sheet. The scholarship requires a brief essay on your future plan in one of the above fields and how earning this scholarship will help you pursue your goals. Lake Rod and Gun Club Scholarship: Deadline February 20, 2015 A $300 scholarship for a graduating senior planning on pursuing a post-secondary degree in life sciences with emphasis on wildlife, fisheries, or forestry research. Requirements include a minimum gpa of 3.0; demonstration of leadership and service involvement; 1 letter of recommendation, and a statement of career goals (500 words or less) See Mrs. Rohdy for an application. Michigan Education Association Scholarship: Deadline February 27, 2015 Eligible students are high school graduating seniors involved in extracurricular activities and community service with strong academic achievement. Clare County Democratic Party Scholarship: Deadline March 1, 2015 The Clare County Democratic Party is offering college scholarships to students who are actively participating in the political process as well as other civic and community activities. In the spring, the Party will award 2 $250 scholarships. One scholarship will go to a Clare County high school college bound senior and the other will go to a Clare County resident attending MMCC. Additional information and applications available now at www.clarecountydemocrats.com (under scholarship tab) Lake George Boosters Club Scholarship: Deadline March 13, 2015 The Lake George Boosters will offer a $500 scholarship to a graduating student from Farwell (either traditional senior or 5th year student) who resides in Lincoln and Freeman Township. Students need to fill out an application, list 3 references, and write a brief essay on who deserving of this scholarship. See Mrs. Rohdy for an application. Clare County Republican Party Scholarship: Deadline April 1, 2015 This $1000 scholarship is for a Clare County resident graduating from high school. Qualifications are a gpa of 2.5 or higher; a completed application, 3 letters or recommendation, and a winning essay about the origin and values of the Republican Party complete with proper citings and a bibliography.
