PRINCIPAL’S UPDATE
Hello Willowgrove Families,
We are just starting into February and already my head is fully immersed in the month
of March. I do have a new baby on the way in March but that’s only part of the reason!
It’s possible we will be moving into Willowgrove School in the coming weeks. Staff
will be busy writing progress reports, 3 way conferences take place in March, and many
classes have planned field trips, events, and activities.
Here are a few of the details the staff have been thinking about and preparing for:
Moving:
We have a coordinated plan that will allow teachers to pack up and move all their materials and supplies the week before we start at Willowgrove. Quality student learning will
continue right through this process. Students will be required to bring some of their
supplies home then return them to Willowgrove.
Student Safety at Willowgrove:
We are planning to take all students to the new school the week before classes begin for
an orientation to the building. We also want to invite families and students to the school
for a school walk through before classes begin. Details are still in the works.
Busing:
Attendance Calls
Please call the
Willowgrove office at
Egnatoff
306-683-7970
or Forest Grove
306-683-7977 to
report your child’s
absence or leave a
message on our 24
hour voice mail.
Some families will continue to receive bus service to Willowgrove, others won’t. The
guideline is that busing is offered to students who are more than 800m away from the
school—measured using First Student Geo Query software. We will continue to meet
with First Student and communicate bus route information to all families who are
currently signed up for busing.
Before/After School Care:
Will be operated by Boys and Girls Club. All registration information is posted on the
Willowgrove web site www.spsd.sk.ca/school/willowgrove.
Once a date is set for classes to begin at Willowgrove, we will have detailed information
about all aspects of school start up. I wanted to share some of the important topics with
you now so you know we are preparing and will make this a smooth transition for your
children!
Please be in touch if you have questions, concerns, or feedback. And please be on the
look out for updates and information about our move to Willowgrove in upcoming
emails.
