Notes From the Lion’s Den
It’s Blue Theology Month!!!
When the waters saw you, O God,
when the waters saw you, they were afraid;
the very deep trembled.
The clouds poured out water;
the skies thundered;
your arrows flashed on every side.
The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
your lightnings lit up the world;
the earth trembled and shook.
Your way was through the sea,
your path, through the mighty waters;
yet your footprints were unseen. --- Psalm 77:16-19
After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of
the earth so that no wind could blow on earth or sea or against any tree. I saw another angel ascending from
the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had
been given power to damage earth and sea, saying, "Do not damage the earth or the sea or the trees, until we
have marked the servants of our God with a seal on their foreheads." --- Revelation 7:1-3
We recently received a phone call from a Disciples church in Galveston Texas asking for
insight to starting a program similar to “the well-known, great program you offer in
Pacific Grove.” The Blue Theology Task Force considered that there are folks all over the
country that know about our program, but some of our own members and friends are
unsure of what we actually do as The Blue Theology Mission Station. I hope you can
attend at least one of the special events this month that will give you a hands-on
experience of what our youth and adult Blue Theologians do while they are visiting with
us. (more info in this newsletter).
Our mission statement is simple: to provide learning/serving experience in
Ocean Stewardship. I personally would add that we offer youth and adult groups the
understanding that there is a clear Christian response to Ocean Stewardship. We offer an
opportunity to spend some time here, arguably the most beautiful place where the land
meets the sea to participate in a guided discovery of how the Christian walk includes
being an advocate for a healthy, sustainable Ocean. It’s going to be the busiest year yet for
our program. Please prayerfully consider volunteering with The Blue Theology Mission
Station or finding ways that you can offer your support. And please thank Blue Theology
Task Force members for their service.
See you in church!

IT IS COMING…..GOOD OLD DAYS…...APRIL 11TH & 12TH
First Planning Meeting: Monday, February 2nd, 7:30pm, Jones Hall
“Good Old Days” is a Street Faire organized each April by the Pacific Grove
Chamber of Commerce. Our Church has a booth space at the corner of Lighthouse
& Forest Avenues in the middle of downtown Pacific Grove.
We set-up our large BBQ and a tent booth. We sell BBQ’d Tri Tip sandwiches
(Harris Ranch beef from our local Grove Market) and Baked items (baked by our
own Church Bakers), soda & water.
To make this a successful Fundraiser for our Church’s General Fund, we need a lot
of help. If you can help, or just need more information, please attend the planning
meeting.
If you can’t attend the planning meeting, watch for the sign-up sheets posted in
Jones Hall for ways you can help.
Any questions…..call Jackie Burns, 831-372-7432.
