What’s Coming In 2015

January has been a
really fun month to be
watching You Tube from
a scrapbooker’s point of
view. January is when the
big CHA event is on in the
US where they showcase
all the up and coming
products for 2015. The
only down fall is if you see
some thing you like you
will often have to wait until
March/April for them to
be released. But it is still
great because you get an
idea of the trends for the
coming year.
This year looks to have lots
of bright bold colours and
lots of foil. We saw this
starting to come through
at the end of 2014 but this
year looks like there will
be even more. There are
also going to be fun ways
that you can add foil to
your projects - more on this
further along.
Something often being
heard on these videos
from CHA was “What was
old will be new” So what
does that mean. One of
the things making a come
back are rub-ons. So keep
an eye out for these.
Another element making
a come back is cork.
These were seen in stickers
and die-cuts. This would
look cool along side the
wooden elements that
have been popular.
Another interesting trend
will be the old typewriter
fonts. Even images of
typewriters are seeming
popular. Also with the
fonts, the outline of a font
rather than filled alphas will
be popular for titles and
the like.
There are a couple of new
cool looking tools due out
this year. We R Memory
Keepers has a very cool
looking tool enabling you
to modify the packet
pages for your albums.
You may want to seal
something into a pocket
or create a different size
pocket. Both can be done
with this new Photo Sleeve
Fuse tool.
The other cool tool (OK this
one is a machine) I saw
was Heidi Swapps Minc
Foil Applicator. This will
enable you to add foil to
some printed sheets and
cards. It looks a lot like a
laminator - but different.
Also for those of us that
enjoy smaller albums, there
are more sizes to choose
from: 8”x 8”, 8”x 11” and
6”x 6” are back - yippee!
So this year looks to
be another fun year of
scrapbooking, cardmaking
and paper crafting.

Year, and Summer holiday. It
already seems like a lifetime
ago. I hope you were able
to get out and take lots of
stunning photos.
Somehow the beginning of
the year always feels full of
excitement and possibilities. I
like this time of year. As you
will read in my article this
month, January is a time I
spend on You Tube watching
all the new products being
shown at CHA (since I can’t
be there, why not enjoy
watching others be there)
So I am also sharing with you
what I have seen that will be
coming out this year.
I have also spent some time
tidying up my scrapbooking
supplies and thought I would
share a couple of good tips
that I came across.

Let’s Get Organized
In the Next
ScrapPack:

This month I wanted to share
a couple of organizational
tips with you. Having a more
organized craft space can
help with your creativity (or so
they say).
When you get your photos
developed what do you do
with them while they wait to
be put on a scrapbook page?
Normally I go through them to
make sure each event has all
the photos together (they can
sometime get out of order
if I am using more than on
camera). Then I just add the
photo developer envelope to
the pile, and the pile is order
of when they were processed.
With my last lot of photos I
went through and organized
the photos into events like I
normally do. I then wrote on
pieces of paper the event
and date and wrapped that
paper round those photos.
Then put all the photo groups
back in the box organized by
when they were taken. I like
these boxes you get from the
developer when you develop
lots and lots of photos.
The other tip I have for you is
for all those scraps of paper
we have leftover from layouts,
cards and other projects.
Well, what do you do with
yours. I used to have four
file boxes - small plain, large
plain, small pattern and large
pattern.
Now I am going through each
box sorting and pre-cutting to
the following sizes:
3”x 3”, 4”x 4”, 3”x 4”, 6”x 4”
and 3”x 12” (strips from 1”x 12”
up to 3”x 12”) Those are for
my small scraps. For my large
scraps I will be pre-cutting
them to 6”x 6” and 8”x 8”. It
will be nice to have a tidy
scraps area. As you can see
from the photo below I have
finished the small plain scraps
file. Now to work on the other
ones. I may even be able to
reduce my files boxes down
to from four to just two boxes
and have sections for plain
and pattern.

7/8”x 4”x Echo Park Capture Life Journaling Card (the hello card but with the hello cut off)
3 1/4”x 4” portrait photo - mat on 3 1/2”x 4 1/4 Echo Park Snapshots pattern paper (using the
reverse side)
2 3/4”x 4” portrait photo - mat on 3”x 4 1/8” Bazzill Grey cardstock
3 3/4”x 2 3/4” landscape photo -mat 3 7/8”x 2 7/8” Bazzill Grey cardstock
2 1/2”x 2 1/2” photo - this will be matted on one of the square frame stickers (apply sticker to
layout once all photos are adhered in place then add the photo on top)
Arrange the photos as shown onto the music notes patter paper and adhere in place.
Layer the flowers and using the Design Bling decorate the top left corner of your layout. Add a
word sticker from the Alpha sticker sheet to just below the flowers and sitting on the top edge of
one of the photos.
Add another Design Bling between the two bottoms photos.
Use the Echo Park Capture Life Alpha stickers to create the second half of your title. If it doesn’t
quite fit alter the angle of the letter and slightly overlay them.
For the other half of your title cut it from white cardstock using your favourite alpha dies (or your
favourite font on your electronic die-cut machine, I used my Silhouette Cameo for this, not sure of
what font it was)

Favourite Stamp
Heat Gun
One the long side of the 4”x 11” Black cardstock score at
5” and 8” and fold your card with a valley fold at the 5”
mark and a mountain fold at the 8” mark.
Adhere the 3 3/4”x 4 3/4” Pattern paper of choice to the
largest part of the black cardstock.
Using your favourite border punch, punch a border across Designed
the bottom edge of the 3 1/2”x 5” white cardstock.

Using Versa Mark ink, stamp your image (I used a dandelion puff stamp twice on mine), then add
a generous amount of embossing powder. Shake excess of embossing powder off and heat set
your stamped image.
Mat your embossed stamped image to the 3 1/2”x 5” white cardstock with the border punched
edge across the bottom. Wrap the white ribbon about 1 1/2” from the bottom edge of the white
cardstock and tie a bow.
Adhere the matted stamped image to the bottom flap of your black cardstock base.
So that your card will stay up when open place a brad through the middle of your 3/4” black
cardstock circle and attach it about 1/2” from the top of the pattern paper on the card (being
sure it is centered on the card). Tuck the top of the white cardstock piece behind the 3/4” black
circle to stand the card up, or lay it all flat when you post it.
