Breakfast is the first meal taken after rising from a nights sleep, most
often eaten in the early morning before undertaking the days work. Among
English speakers, breakfast can be used to refer to this meal or to refer to a meal
composed of traditional breakfast foods (such as eggs, oatmeal and sausage)
served at any time of day. The word literally refers to breaking the fasting period
of the prior night. It has its origin in the Judeo-Christian custom of fasting from
food between the supper meal of one day and the morning meal of the next.
Foregoing the natural craving to eat was seen as an act of self-denial that honors
God, while strengthening the religious resolve and faith of the believer.
Breakfast foods vary widely from place to place, but often include
carbohydrates such as grains or cereals, fruit and/or vegetables, protein foods
such as eggs, meat or fish, and a beverage such as tea, coffee, milk or fruit juice.

Traditionally, soups are classified
into two main groups: clear soups and
thick soups. The established French
classifications of clear soups are bouillon

thickened with starch; bisques are made
from puréed shellfish or vegetables
thickened with cream; cream soups may
be thickened with béchamel sauce; and
veloutés are thickened with eggs, butter,
and cream. Other ingredients commonly
used to thicken soups and broths include
egg, rice, lentils, flour, and grains; many
popular soups also include carrots and
potatoes.
Soups are similar to stews, and in
some cases there may not be a clear
distinction between the two; however,
soups generally have more liquid than
stews.

A tandoor is a cylindrical clay or metal
oven used in cooking and baking. The tandoor
is used for cooking in Southern, Central and
Western Asia, as well as in the Caucasus.
The heat for a tandoor was
traditionally generated by a charcoal or wood
fire, burning within the tandoor itself, thus
exposing the food to live-fire, radiant heat
cooking, and hot-air, convection cooking, and
smoking by the fat and food juices that drip on
to the charcoal. Temperatures in a tandoor can
approach 480 °C (900 °F), and it is common for
tandoor ovens to remain lit for long periods to
maintain the high cooking temperature. The
tandoor design is something of a transitional
form between a makeshift earth oven and the
horizontal-plan masonry oven.

Indian cuisine
Indian cuisine
encompasses a wide variety
of regional cuisines native to India. Given the range of
diversity in soil type, climate and occupations, these
cuisines vary significantly from each other and use
locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits.
Indian food is also heavily influenced by religious and
cultural choices and traditions.
The development of these cuisines have
been shaped by Dharmic beliefs, and in particular by
vegetarianism, which is a growing dietary trend in Indian
society.There has also been Central Asian influence on
North Indian cuisine from the years of Mughal rule.
Indian cuisine has been and is still evolving, as a result of
the nation›s cultural interactions with other societies.
Historical incidents such as foreign invasions,
trade relations and colonialism have also played a role in
introducing certain foods to the country. For instance,
the potato, a staple of the Indian diet was brought to
India by the Portuguese, who also introduced chillies
and breadfruit.Indian cuisine has also shaped the history
of international relations; the spice trade between India
and Europe is often cited by historians as the primary
catalyst for Europe›s Age of Discovery. Spices were
bought from India and traded around Europe and Asia.
It has also influenced other cuisines across the world,
especially those from Southeast Asia, the British Isles,
and the Caribbean.

Chinese cuisine includes styles

snacks. The Dagwood sandwich was originally the humorous result of a cartoon character›s desire for large snacks. Beverages, such as coffee, are not generally considered
snacks though they may be consumed along with snack foods. A beverage may be considered a snack if it possesses a substantive food item (e.g., strawberries, bananas,
kiwis) that has been blended to create a smoothie.Plain snacks like plain cereals, pasta, and vegetables are also mildly popular, and the word snack has often been used to
refer to a larger meal involving cooked or leftover items. Six-meal eating is a form of eating that incorporates healthy snacks in between small meals, to stave off hunger and
promote weight loss. With the spread of convenience stores, packaged snack foods became a significant business. Snack foods are typically designed to be portable, quick,
and satisfying. Processed snack foods are designed to be less perishable, more durable, and more portable than prepared foods. They often contain substantial amounts
of sweeteners, preservatives, and appealing ingredients such as chocolate, peanuts, and specially-designed flavors (such as flavored potato chips). A snack eaten shortly
before going to bed or during the night may be called a midnight snack.
Pizza is an oven-baked flat

a Latin text from the southern Italian
town of Gaeta, in Lazio, Central Italy.
The modern pizza was invented in
Naples, Italy, and the dish and its

upon Italy›s request, Neapolitan pizza

Union as a Traditional Speciality

Coffee is a brewed beverage prepared
from the roasted or baked seeds of several species
of an evergreen shrub of the genus Coffea. The
two most common sources of coffee beans are the
highly regarded Coffea arabica, and the «robusta»
form of the hardier Coffea canephora. The latter
is resistant to the coffee leaf rust (Hemileia
vastatrix), but has a more bitter taste. Coffee
plants are cultivated in more than 70 countries,
primarily in equatorial Latin America, Southeast
Asia, and Africa. Once ripe, coffee «berries» are
picked, processed and dried to yield the seeds
inside. The seeds are then roasted to varying
degrees, depending on the desired flavor, before
being ground and brewed to create coffee.
Coffee is slightly acidic (pH 5.0–5.1and
can have a stimulating effect on humans because
of its caffeine content. It is one of the most
popular drinks in the world. It can be prepared
and presented in a variety of ways. The effect of
coffee on human health has been a subject of
many studies; however, results have varied in
terms of coffee›s relative benefit. The majority of
recent research suggests that moderate coffee
consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in
healthy adults. However, the diterpenes in coffee
may increase the risk of heart disease.
Coffee cultivation first took place in
Abyssinia the earliest credible evidence of coffeedrinking appears in the middle of the 15th century
in the Sufi shrines of Yemen. In the Horn of Africa
and Yemen, coffee was used in local religious
ceremonies. As these ceremonies conflicted with
the beliefs of the Christian church, the Ethiopian
Church banned the secular consumption of coffee
until the reign of Emperor Menelik II.The beverage
was also banned in Ottoman Turkey during the 17th
century for political reasons, and was associated
with rebellious political activities in Europe.
An important export commodity,
coffee was the top agricultural export for twelve
countries in 2004, and it was the world›s seventhlargest legal agricultural export by value in 2005.
Green (unroasted) coffee is one of the most traded
agricultural commodities in the world. Some
controversy is associated with coffee cultivation
and its impact on the environment. Consequently,

Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly
prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over
cured leaves of the tea plant, Camellia sinensis.
After water, tea is the most widely consumed
beverage in the world.Some teas, like darjeelings
and Chinese greens, have a cooling, slightly bitter,
and astringent flavour that many people enjoy.
Other teas can have vastly different flavour notes,
like sweet, nutty, floral, or grassy.
Tea originated in China as a medicinal
drink.It was first introduced to Portuguese priests
and merchants in China during the 16th century.
Drinking tea became popular in Britain during the
17th century. The British introduced it to India,
to compete with the Chinese monopoly on the
product.
The phrase herbal tea usually refers
to infusions of fruit or herbs made without the
tea plant, such as rosehip tea, chamomile tea,
or rooibos tea. Alternative phrases for this are
tisane or herbal infusion, both bearing an implied
contrast with tea as it is commonly construed.
Dessert is a typically sweet course that concludes
an evening meal. The course usually consists of sweet foods,
but may include other items.
