International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking: The Holy See has announced that
on February 8, all dioceses and parishes around the world will mark the first International Day of Prayer and
Awareness against Human Trafficking. This event will be celebrated on the Feast Day of St. Josephine
Bakhita, a Sudanese woman who was herself a slave. Once freed, she went on to become a Canossian nun and
was declared a Saint in 2000.
Pope Francis – Focus on Family - The Holy Father has called the entire Church to focus on the Family.
Parishioners and Pastoral Councils are invited to respond in preparation for the upcoming Synod of Bishops.

Palm Needed – Parishioners are asked to bring palm from last year to your church by Sunday, Feb. 15. The
palm will be burnt at St. Patrick’s Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Ash Wednesday Mass: Mass on Ash Wednesday, February 18 will be at 7 p.m. at St. Michael’s.
Sacrament of Reconciliation/Penance Preparation – Classes will be held on Feb. 8, 15, 22, Mar. 1 & 8.
Place: Mary’s Room Time: 2 – 3:30 p.m.
More Church Cleaners Needed – Thank you to those who volunteered to clean St. Patrick’s Church. We
need six more volunteers. Please sign the sheet at the entrance of the church if you are interested. Once we
have all the volunteers, a list will be posted.
The Rosary will be prayed each Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Margaree Manor. All are welcomed.
The Rosary for peace will be prayed each Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. before Mass at St. Michael’s.
Pastoral Planning - On Sunday, Nov. 9, we had two meetings of the Inverness Deanery to discuss Pastoral
Planning. These meetings took place in Port Hood and in South West Margaree. These meetings were to
discuss the decrease in the number of Diocesan priests that we have to serve the needs of the parishes in the
Diocese and generally the change in attendance patterns that we are experiencing in our churches. Until
February 15, 2015 the Inverness Pastoral Planning Committee will be accepting your ideas and suggestions as
to how to respond to the challenges we face, and you can send them to me, Fr. Donald MacGillivray, Diocesan

CWL & K of C NEWS
Crib Games - Knights of Columbus Crib Game will be held on Sundays at New Horizons Seniors’ Hall, East
Margaree.
St. Michael’s CWL – Please leave your used stamps at the entrance of St. Michael’s Church.
St. Patrick’s CWL – St. Patrick’s CWL will meet on Wed., Feb. 11 after the 6:30 Mass. A good attendance is
requested.
Seniors’ Valentine Social - St. Patrick’s seniors are invited to a Valentine Social at St. Patrick’s Hall on
Thursday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. If interested, please call Lorraine Fraser 902-248-2397.
Pancake Supper – St. Patrick’s CWL will have a pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 17 beginning at
4:30 p.m

like to hear your views. If you wish to share your views and ideas please come to a meeting on Sun., Feb. 8 at

St. Michael's Pastoral Planning: The deadline for ideas/suggestions regarding the future challenges facing our
parishes is fast approaching (February 14/15). The representative for St. Michael's - Hubert Chiasson will be
holding an information/discussion evening regarding this very important topic this Monday, February 9th at
the New Horizons Seniors’ Club building, Marsh Brook Road starting at 7pm.

New Horizons Seniors Pancake Lunch will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17 starting at 11:30; $7.; pancakes,
potato pancakes, dessert, tea and coffee.
New Horizons Seniors Meeting will be held on Wed., Feb. 11 at 1:30 p.m. Fun Afternoon - A fun afternoon
will be held the third Wednesday of every month with card games, etc. Everyone welcomed.
Lenten Series - St Joseph Renewal Centre is offering a Lenten Series with the theme The Sacredness of
