Helen Keller International Internship Announcement Finance Intern (Washington, D.C.) Established in 1915 with Helen Keller as a founding trustee, Helen Keller International (HKI) works to save the sight and lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged. Headquartered in New York City, with an office in Washington DC, HKI currently conducts programs in 21 countries in Africa and Asia as well as in the United States. HKI is known for sustainability, reliability, efficiency and the highest level of technical expertise in fighting and treating blindness and malnutrition. The DC office of HKI is seeking a part-time Finance Intern to provide support to our Finance Department. Responsibilities: • • • • • • • Prepare annual schedules and monthly reports, as assigned Assist with project budget reviews Research and provide estimates of relevant financial variables (i.e. exchange rates, inflation, etc.) Cross-check calculations to support financial analysis Develop an Excel database of financial reports and due dates by donor and budget manager to facilitate proper follow up. Run reports, highlight key information , identify gaps, and update information regarding all active projects. Assist with day-to-day operational financial functions, as requested Qualifications: • • • • • • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Management or business plus one-two years relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Graduate student preferred; undergraduate students will be considered. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Proficiency with Microsoft applications - Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Proficient in use of spreadsheets and databases Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong written and oral communication skills Conditions: • • • 20 hours per week at $13.60/hour Scheduling is flexible to accommodate class schedules so long as a regular weekly routine is established with approval of the supervisor.
