It is our pleasure to announce that the Greater Long Island Running Club was
recently awarded a contract to serve as the professional managers of the Suffolk County
Marathon and Half Marathon to Support Our Veterans, which will be held on September
13, 2015. We are looking forward to the opportunity to partner with Suffolk County
Executive Steve Bellone and it is with great enthusiasm that we invite you to join us in the
excitement of bringing this inaugural, world-class event to life.
Suffolk County is home to 1.5 million people and boasts the largest veteran
population in all of New York State, with nearly 100,000 United States veterans calling
Suffolk County their home. Expanding and enhancing services for our veteran population
has always been a priority of County Executive Bellone but he recognizes there is always
more we can do to thank, honor, and support our heroes. That is why he decided to
organize the Suffolk County Marathon and Half Marathon to Support Our Veterans, a
fundraising event in which all net proceeds will go directly toward expanding services for
veterans living right here in Suffolk.
With a unique course that will feature live music and a festival atmosphere, winding
through some of our many vibrant downtowns, and with our post-race Taste of Long
Island Festival, the Suffolk County Marathon and Half Marathon to Support Our Veterans
will draw participants not only from Long Island but from all over the world. It will
truly be a world-class destination event, with participants traveling from near and far to
experience all Suffolk County has to offer.
With the help of our professional race managers here at the Greater Long Island
Running Club and considering the fact this event has already garnered significant media
attention, we are anticipating thousands of participants and an even greater number of
spectators. The Suffolk County Marathon and Half Marathon to Support Our Veterans is
sure to be a success, but we need your help.
County Executive Steve Bellone and we would be sincerely grateful if you helped
us thank those who have already given so much through their dedication and service to
our country by becoming an inaugural sponsor. We encourage you to review the enclosed
