IN-STATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
The Raleigh Area Chapter Bennett College National Alumnae Association will offer a $2,000 scholarship to a Wake
County female high school senior with good scholastic and leadership record. The student selected to receive the
scholarship must be accepted to Bennett College for Women before the scholarship is actually awarded. Applicants
must also submit an essay of 500 words on career goals and personal ambitions. Applications are available in the
Guidance Resource Center. Deadline: March 28, 2015.
The North Carolina Central University Alumni Association offers several “National Alumni Scholarships” to
students at NCCU. The scholarships vary in amount and may be renewable for up to four years. Recipients of these
awards are designated “National Alumni Scholars.” Though the majority of the National Alumni Scholarship awards
made annually will be to incoming freshman students, applications are acceptable from any student regardless of
classification or academic interest. Application Packets are available in the Guidance Resource Center. Deadline:
March 15, 2015
The North Carolina Central University Raleigh/Wake Alumni Association offers several scholarships to high
school seniors interested in attending North Carolina Central University in the Fall of 2015. Applicants must be a
Wake County resident, have at least a 2.5 GPA and a SAT score of 900+. Financial need is not the primary criteria
in determining recipients for the award. Applications are available in the Guidance Resource Center. Deadline:
April 16, 2015.
TEACHING SCHOLARSHIPS
Hammond-Hill Scholarship [Alpha Delta Kappa /Beta Omicron Chapter]. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded
to a Wake County senior planning to pursue a degree in education. March 16th deadline. Applications are available
in the Guidance Resource Center.
The Phi Delta Kappa (the Professional Association in Education) Educational Foundation awards more than 30 Phi
Delta Kappa Prospective Educator Scholarships each year to prospective educators who have a connection to
PDK by having a family member or teacher who is a PDK member or through membership in the Future Educators
Association. Awards and scholarship information is online at http://www.pdkintl.org/awards/prospective.htm . The
application deadline is April 1.
NON-SCHOOL SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS
180 Medical Scholarship Program. Five $1,000 college scholarship will be awarded. Applicants must be under a
physician’s care for spina bifida, a spinal cord injury, or transverse myelitis. Visit

American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Foundation Scholarships are offered to undergraduate and
graduate college students who are attending accredited colleges or universities in the U.S. full-time. Four different
scholarships are available. The A.A.E. Scholarship is for airport executives, their spouses and their children. The
applicant, spouse or parent must be a full-time active employee of a public airport. Another scholarship available is
the Competitive Non-A.A.E. Scholarship for grandchildren and other extended family members which provides
scholarships for a broader range of family members for airport executives with no dependent children. In addition,
there is the AAAE Foundation grants which award ten scholarships a year to students enrolled in an aviation
program. Eligible students must be at least juniors and have a grade point average 3.0 or higher. Finally, the AAAE
Foundation also grants scholarships to Native American college students who are enrolled in an aviation program
and are juniors with grade point averages of at least 3.0. The American Association of Airport Executives was
founded in 1928. It's a professional trade association that serves the interests of airport executives by continuing to
improve products and services and represent their voice in Washington. The organization is based in Washington,
D.C. The deadline for this scholarship is MARCH 31, 2015, and the award amount is usually $900 - $4,000.

Charles Edward Cathey Masonic Scholarship. Funded by the Freemasons of North Carolina through the Grand
Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons. To be considered, applicants must have a 3.0+ GPA. The scholarship
committee will consider factors including scholastic achievement, participation in extracurricular and civic

The iContact Foundation Scholarship Program of Triangle Community Foundation promotes educational
advancement by offering competitive scholarship opportunities for the children (biological, adopted, step, or
foster) of persons employed by iContact. Scholarships are for full-time students pursuing post-secondary
education (two- or four-year degrees only) at any accredited college, university, community college, or trade
school. There are no limitations on area of study. Scholarship awards can be used for tuition and fees and will
range from $1,000 to $10,000 annually, renewable for up to four years with total awards not to exceed
$20,000. In order to receive renewal payments, each scholarship recipient must demonstrate ongoing
community involvement and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on
demonstrated financial need, community involvement and leadership, and academic merit. Preference will be
given to graduating high school seniors or students entering the first year of their post-secondary degree. All

Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program rewards students ages 6-18 across the country for their volunteer efforts within
their communities. Students nominated for recognition are eligible for scholarships at both the regional and national
level. Deserving students who have worked hard to make a difference in their communities can be nominated by an
adult 21 years old or older. The nominations should describe what the student did and the outcome, including how it
helped people in the community. Each Kohl's store will recognize a store winner in two age groups (6-12 and 1318), 200 regional scholarships will be awarded, and ten national scholarships will be awarded. The scholarships may
be used for tuition, room and board, fees and books, supplies and other college expenses at an accredited college or
university. Usually, more than $400,000 in scholarships is awarded each year to more than 2,000 students. The
Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program was established in 2001 and has awarded $3.5 million in scholarships and prizes
to more than 17,500 school children. Kohl's Cares programs support children's health and education, environmental
programs, women's health, and Kohl's employee volunteer programs. The deadline for this scholarship is

North Carolina Strawberry Association Scholarships. The scholarship program accepts applications for seniors
accepted to a land grant university who are interested in or have declared a major in a program of study directly
related to the strawberry industry [small fruit production, marketing, food science, nutrition, entomology, agronomy,
etc.]. This year’s award is $1,000. Full information about the program and links to the scholarship application may

This year the Optimist Club of Raleigh will celebrate Youth Appreciation Week by awarding two one-year
scholarships [one for $2500 and one for $1500] to Wake County high school seniors, based on academic and extracurricular accomplishments and level of community involvement. This scholarship can be used at any accredited
university, college or trade/vocational school. Awards are presented at Optimist Club luncheon meetings.
Application forms are available in the Guidance Resource Center and completed applications must be reviewed by a
counselor before returning on Friday, February 20, 2015. .
Pasta Tales 2015 Essay Scholarship, is from the popular restaurant chain Olive Garden. This scholarship asks
students to answer the essay prompt, How would you help end hunger in your community? Essays should be
between 50 and 250 words (so yes, they should be on the shorter side). Along with the essay, students should
submit their first name, last name, complete address/zip code, phone number, date of birth, age, grade, and signed
statement (the signed statement is for proof that the work is original). Students in grades 1 through 12 are eligible
to apply (ie: all high school students). The scholarship committee will be judging essays on content,
development/organization, relevance to theme, creativity/originality and grammar . The application for this

Society of Women Engineers. This scholarship program provides financial assistance to women admitted to
accredited baccalaureate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer

ScholarshipExperts.com Fifth Month Scholarship is open to students age 13 and older who plan to enroll in an
accredited post-secondary institution of higher education in the Fall immediately following graduation from high
school. All candidates must be citizens of the U.S. or District of Columbia. Students may enter the scholarship
competition by submitting an essay of 250 words or less on the subject of the number 5 and why that number is
important to them. Since the deadline for this scholarship is the 5th month, or May, students can use humor and
creativity to create their essays based on the number 5. All essays must be the original work of the applicant.
Essays will be judged by writing ability, creativity, originality, and overall excellence, in addition to correct spelling
and grammar. Only one scholarship is awarded per year. The scholarship is offered by ScholarshipExperts.com, a

The SHPE Foundation Scholarships are being offered to “Latino students pursuing degrees in engineering, math and
science”. This program awards both merit-based and need-based scholarships (in the amount of $1,000 – $5,000) to
deserving Latino/a high school graduating seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students who demonstrate
both significant motivation and aptitude for a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Eligibility
requirements differ for each scholarship. However, scholarships require a minimum High School and
Undergraduate 2.75 GPA Graduate 3.00 GPA Dissertation 3.50 GPA both at the time of application and
throughout the scholarship period, and students must be registered full time (12 hrs undergraduate / 9 hrs
graduate) in a science, technology, engineering, or math discipline. THE APPLICATION PERIOD FOR THE
2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEAR OPENS ON JANUARY 1, 2015 and CLOSES MAY 1st 2015 postmarked.

ShurTech Brands Duct Tape “Stuck at the Prom” Scholarship Contest. This weird scholarship contest is open
to legal residents of the United States and Canada, 14 years of age or older, who attends a high school prom. Contest
participants must enter as a couple. Each couple must attend the prom wearing complete prom attire and/or
accessories made using Duck brand duct tape. Judges will select 10 Finalist Couples who will be posted online for
public voting. Each individual member of the First Place winning couple will receive a cash scholarship of $5,000.

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Florida offers an educational scholarship to a senior who is
a citizen of the United States. The applicant must have a proven ancestry to a Mayflower passenger, and the
sponsoring relative must be a member of the Florida Society. An unweighted GPA of a least 3.0 and the completion

Triangle Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the Achievement Scholarship for Refugees
and Immigrants of Wake County for the 2015-2016 academic year. The Achievement Scholarship will provide
financial awards for refugee and immigrant high school seniors who reside in Wake County to continue their
education in a post-secondary setting. The goal is to support these students on a pathway to finding meaningful
employment and becoming contributory members of their communities and adopted country. Scholarships will
range from $1,000 to $4,000 per year, for up to four years and can be used at any accredited public, private,
technical college or university in the state of North Carolina. A minimum of four awards will be made each year. To
be eligible, applicants must be: first-generation U.S. citizens, refugees, or immigrants (legal documentation is not
required); residents of Wake County, North Carolina who have completed at least one academic year at a high
school in Wake County; high school seniors at the time of the application with a GPA of 2.5 or greater; planning to
pursue a 2-year or 4-year degree as a full-time student; and planning to attend an accredited public, private, or
technical college or university in the state of North Carolina. This scholarship is not available for students planning
to enroll part-time or at for-profit or online institutions. There are no restrictions on area of study. Recipients will
be selected based on financial need, academic performance, potential for success, adversity, and community
involvement. Applications and instructions can be found on the website www.trianglecf.org in the section titled
"Grants and Support." All applications must be submitted using the Foundations new online application portal by
March 31, 2015. Applicants will create a profile, upload a completed application form and attachments, and
provide the names and email addresses of two recommenders. Recommenders will be notified by email through the

Triangle Sons of Italy Lodge 2817 will provide a $750 scholarship to an Italian American student [at least 1/8
Italian] residing in the Triangle area who plans to enroll in an accredited college or university in the fall. The senior
who is selected will be invited with his or her family to attend the Lodge picnic on June 7, 2015 to receive the award
presented by the Lodge Council President. The application form can be found online at

The Walter J Travis Memorial Scholarship Program, offered by the Walter J. Travis Society, Inc., awards a
limited number of academic scholarships to honor the accomplishments and contributions of Walter J. Travis in his
career as an amateur golfer, golf course architect, turf grass expert, golf journalist, golf magazine founder and editor,
and golf equipment innovator. You are eligible to be an applicant if you are enrolled as a full-time student in a twoor four-year college/university and pursuing a career in one of the following professions: sports journalist, with a
special interest in golf, golf course architecture, golf course turf grass management/greens superintendent;
professional golf management; and if you are an excellent college/university amateur golfer whose career goal
is in a field other than the aforementioned professions. You must include a letter from your college/university
verifying that you are, or will be, a full-time matriculated student for the 2015-2016 school year. The letter must
