Emotional Overeating
Support Group
Are you overweight, obese and struggling with
your weight? Do you have emotional issues? Do
you binge eat or compulsively overeat?
Beat, the UK’s eating
disorders charity, is
setting up Emotional
Overeating Support
Groups across the
country.
The groups provide an
open and nonjudgmental space for
peer support between
adults who are struggling

groups will help people
to:
 Meet others in similar
situations and gain
peer support
 Discuss their
experiences in a safe,
confidential, friendly
and stigma-free
environment
 Gain information
about resources and
services
The groups do not
provide therapy,
counselling or advice and
are open to anyone over
the age of 18. No fees,
medical referral or weighin is required and you can
attend groups as often or
as seldom as you like.
The local group meet on
the second Thursday of
each month at 6.30p.m.

Identity Youth Project
Identity Youth Project
(IDYP) was established in
2012 by four local
churches. Building on
existing youth work by
Unite Norfolk - Cliff Park
Community Church, St
Andrews Church, St Mary
Magdalene Church, and
Magdalen Way Methodist
Church - decided that
there should be a specific
sphere of youth work
undertaken in Gorleston,
and so they worked
together to create IDYP.
IDYP currently have a
number of activities
which run throughout the
week that aim to support
young people, regardless
of their background or
faith.

Tactical Ancient Research Group
TARG is a Norfolk-based
group aiming to bring the
past to life, researching
combat techniques from
the 16th century back
through the ages. We
also ask some vital
questions that have
arisen over the past
twenty years in the
re-enactment industry.
Questions such as:
Were shields used as a
trap for weapons or
primarily for defence?
How did shields differ
between the cultures
here in England through
the ages?
Where did the styles and
techniques with
two-handed swords and
polearms come from in
the 16th century? What
were their origins?
Using a variety of
weapons from claymores,
medieval bills, singlehand broadswords, twohanded spears, single-
hand spears, shields,
scramasaxes, hand axes,
and dane axes we aim to
bring history alive for the
whole community via a
variety of media including
presentation dvds and
photos, shows, websites
and videos on YouTube.
Anyone can join us,
regardless of age or
gender. We have lots of
opportunities ranging
from photographers,
video camera work,
research, constructing
armour and clothing.
Every year we give
displays for the public to
demonstrate the working
knowledge we have
acquired and to bring
history alive. To be part
of the combat research
you must be 15 and
above (from 15-17 you
will need parental
permission).
So what are you waiting
for? The possibilities are
endless. Come and join us
and participate in the
resurrection of history.
We meet every Saturday/
Sunday depending on
members’ availability at
our base in Burgh Castle.
So, if you fancy learning
how to use dark-age and
medieval weaponry, or
just do some research or
construction, drop us a
line. Help us to resurrect
history through research.
