Presbyterians Today, a monthly magazine published by the Presbyterian
Mission Agency, is making an offer we hope you can’t refuse! They are willing
to bet that you like what you see by sending any non-subscriber a free oneyear subscription with no strings attached. In addition to a free subscription, every reader receives:
• Free Advent calendar
• Free Lenten devotional
• Free digital access to the entire Presbyterians Today website and archive
And to further contribute to your reading pleasure, Presbyterian Outlook, the independent biweekly magazine on the Presbyterian Church (USA), is offering a free 6
month subscription!
Of course, they’re both hoping that you’ll enjoy their magazines so much that you’ll
want to renew next year (or in six months)—but that’s entirely up to you.
Just contact the church office at 587-0178 if you’d like to be signed up for your free
subscriptions, but do hurry, as this offer will not last long.

There is an old rabbinic saying that disciples want to follow their
teacher so closely that they will be covered by the dust of their
Rabbi as he leads them.
We who are Christians want to follow our Lord Jesus. But are
you ever uncertain what that means? Do you wish you could understand Jesus’ teachings at a deeper level, and especially what
they mean for your life? Wouldn’t it help to be with others who
are asking the same questions about their faith and life?

For the six weeks of Lent we’ll be gathering in small groups to
• Explore what Matthew’s Gospel says and means
• Make connections with our daily lives
• Encourage one another to live according to what we are
learning
You’ll find more information on the particulars inside. Sign up by
filling out the form online at www.granpres.org, or stop by the
table in Heritage Hall on Sunday. You can also call the church office and Susan or Doris will help you sign up.
To make sure as many people can participate as possible, eight
different times are available. But to have the ‘small group’ experience work, each group is limited to ten people. Give your first,
second and third choice of times so we can find a spot for everyone.

I’m so grateful to the Discernment team for seeing our deep craving
for connecting to God and to each other in authentic, honest ways. I’m
grateful to the Small Group team for executing the details and making
this happen. And I’m grateful to our trained facilitators for serving by
leading these groups and our hosts for their gift of hospitality.

MISSION EVENT
Mark your calendars for March 21!
The Mission committee is planning a community service day and dinner for families
and groups. We will do service in our community and then return to the church to
share the experience with one another over dinner. At that time we will also learn
about International Mission in the Presbyterian church. As part of this service day and
dinner, we will be welcoming Jed and Jenny Koball, Presbyterian mission co-workers in
Peru who work closely with churches to better partner internationally. Look for more
information at the end of February to sign up to be a volunteer for this special Mission
event.

THANK YOU
The Youth of FPC would love to give a huge thank you to the
church for supporting our summer trips by buying subs! We sold
186 subs and made over $1,000 dollars. This money will help our
youth go on their mission trip to Washington DC, this summer, and
the Youth Choir to go on its 2016 summer tour! This could not
have happened without the tireless work of our youth, parents, advisors, and staff. We thank everyone who picked up groceries, set up tables, weighed
salami, or chopped lettuce. We are blessed to have such an active and passionate
church family!
With deep gratitude,
Trip, Joy, and Ellen
THANK YOU
Ken and I are so grateful for the cards, phone calls, visits, and especially the meals that
we received while I was recuperating from my hip surgery. Thanks to our amazing
church family!

STEPHEN MINISTRY QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
How does Stephen Ministry benefit our congregation?
Pastors are the congregation's primary caregivers, but they
can't do all the care-giving alone. Stephen Ministry multiplies the
care pastors can provide by organizing and equipping laypeople to
share in the joys and responsibilities of providing Christ's care to
those in our midst who are hurting.
