For Immediate Release February 3, 2015 Contact: Rep. Kathy Bernier (608) 266-9172 REP BERNIER COMMENTS ON GOVERNOR WALKER’S BUDGET ADDRESS Positive Initiatives Highlight Chippewa Valley Needs Madison – State Representative Kathy Bernier (R-Lake Hallie) issued the following statement following Governor Scott Walker’s Budget Address Tuesday night. “I am pleased with Governor Walker’s address tonight. The budget process begins with the governor’s proposal and now the legislature has its job to do. The citizens of Wisconsin deserve an efficient and effective government. I think the governor got the process off to a good start and I look forward to working to make our two-year budget even better. “I am particularly optimistic with what I heard regarding rural initiatives tonight. Increasing the pupil transportation aid program from $275 to $300 per pupil in districts transporting students more than 12 miles is critical for much of the 68th Assembly District. Additionally, continued funding of general transportation aids at the current rate will help ensure local roads are maintained and improved. “I look forward to hearing from my constituents over the coming weeks as we work to make wise spending choices with hard-earned taxpayer dollars. Together we will keep working to move Wisconsin forward.” ###
