Dear parents and carers
As you know Mr Bissett will be retiring at the end of this academic year. On behalf of the Governing
Body, and all parents and carers, I would like to thank him for his dedicated and wholehearted service
as Headteacher over the past 11 years. He will leave the school in excellent health; with children who
are excited about learning, a strong team of professional and dedicated staff, a broad and creative
curriculum (as well as a very rich wider school life), and academic results which are considerably
stronger than when he arrived.
The Governing Body has begun the process of recruiting a new Headteacher to continue and build on
this success. Barham is a good school, in a beautiful location, and we are confident that we shall be
able to attract high quality applicants. The recruitment panel will be made up of four governors – Rev
Stephen Hardy, John Pierson (Local Authority Governor), Colin Morrall (Parent Governor) and myself
(Foundation Governor ). We shall be supported throughout the process by experienced and senior
officers appointed by Kent County Council and the Diocese of Canterbury, both of whom are former
headteachers.
The advert is likely to appear on Kent Teach by the end of February, with interviews taking place in
towards during April. I shall write to you again as soon as we know the outcome. In the meantime, if
you have any questions about the recruitment process please come and talk to me, or one of the
other governors, or contact me through the School Office.
Yours sincerely
Jacqui Connelly
Chair of Governors
