Aditya Institute of Technology And Management
(AITAM), Tekkali has shot up like a bright star in the
firmament of technical education in the Northern
Districts of Andhra Pradesh. Established in 2001 on a vast
expanse of 50 acres of land just on the NH-12 and 40 km
from the district headquarters, Srikakulam. Within the first
thirteen years of existence the college started
commanding a respectable position among the premier
institutions in the state with its six branches of B. Tech.,
MBA, M. Tech and Diploma programs. To crown the success story, the college acquired the necessary
accreditations from NBA and NAAC. The institution is
permanently affiliated to JNTUK. UGC sanctioned us 2(f)
and 12(b) status. This is also a TEQIP funded institution.
It gets Autonomous status from UGC. Every Department
of this college has its own R & D wing and its own
Research Programs. JNTUK has sanctioned and set up a
Research Centres for the Branches CSE, ME, ECE to
promote research activities.

ABOUT CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in
the year 2011 with a vision of providing quality
education in Civil engineering. The Department is fully
equipped with the state of art laboratories and well
experienced faculty members.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course is tailored to meet the demands of
developing skilled man-power in Health GIS.
To discuss the role of Health GIS in the era of smart cities.
To identify / provide a platform for experts working in
the field of Health GIS.
To identify and disseminate current applications of GIS
for public health protection.
For mapping of the expertise available and potential
projects to be executed by researchers in future.
To recommend Health GIS application for benefitting
tribal people with special reference to Andhra-Odisa
Border.

Introduction to GIS, Components of GIS.
Functions of GIS.
Difference between paper maps and GIS
maps.
Geographic phenomenon and
GIS concepts
GIS-Data Types, Spatial and Non-Spatial,
Raster and Vector, Layer Concepts.
Spatial Data Generation and analysis.
Spatial Analysis – Overview analysis
defining buffer, union, clip and dissolve.
GIS and its applications in health sector.
GPS and its applications in health sector.
Major Research Areas in Health GIS.
Health Care Emergency Management.
Methods of Disease and Risk Management.
Geospatial analysis and visualization.
Web services and building portals.
The Workshop is mainly targeted for the Young Scientists, Researchers working in the field of Health GIS,
Faculty from Engineering/Science Colleges (Civil
Engineering, Envoronmental Sciences, Geology,
Geography). Public Health Personnel and NGOs
working in Health sector also preferred.
Confirmation of Eligible Candidates: Will be based on
First Come First Serve basis. Maximum number of
particpants is 30 only.
AWARD
Participants who come late or go early during the
Workshop period and those who do not provide
compleed feedback form will not be eligible to receive
participation certificate. participation certificate will
be warded on full participation only.
