This presentation will explore the various lab testing used in the diagnosis of systemic conditions that have
associated manifestations in the eye and ocular structures. Common ocular conditions and the associated
systemic diseases will be reviewed with an emphasis on what tests should be ordered and what the optometric
physician should know once the results are back.

Critical to a clinician’s practice is the ability to diagnose and manage unique and interesting presentations of
“typical” ocular conditions, or to be able to diagnose a previously un-encountered condition. The following
lecture will utilize the latest in interactive technology to engage the audience while presenting patient cases
with unique presentations of ocular conditions. The course will focus on the clinician’s ability to analyze
and interpret the unique case presentation and provide appropriate management and treatment options.

3C: Peri-operative and Post-operative Control of Inflammation Following Cataract Surgery,
A Practical and Evidence-based Approach, Dr. Stephen Lane, MD
Inflammation after cataract surgery may cause decreased vision, discomfort and patient anxiety. This can be a
particular problem in patients who will be receiving an advanced technology IOL. This course discusses the
rational and methods of treating inflammation in the perioperative and postoperative period to achieve maximal
outcomes following cataract surgery.

This interactive course examines the variety of ocular surface inflammatory and infectious conditions with a
particular emphasis on the use of oral pharmaceuticals in their treatment/management. Topic areas include
HSV keratitis, herpes zoster ophthalmicus, bacterial/allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis/meibomian gland
disease and dry eye disease.

This course will introduce current concepts and techniques for the surgical treatment of presbyopia. New
technologies currently undergoing FDA clinical trials will also be introduced.

New corneal surgery techniques will be discussed, including new methods of cornea transplantation, cornea
cross-linking, prosthetic corneal replacement and limbal stem cell transplantation. Referral recommendations
and post-operative complications will be discussed.
7G: Legends of the Posterior Segment (40819-PS), Dr. Blair Lonsberry
Optometric physicians are typically comfortable in the diagnosis and treatment of anterior segment conditions.
However, the posterior segment is often viewed with less confidence. This presentation will utilize the latest in
interactive technology to review a variety of common posterior segment conditions in a case based format.

8H: Scleral Lens Basics, Dr. Derek Louie
The explosion of this contact lens design and modality over the last several years will be discussed. Evaluation
and management considerations, along with patient selection and fitting methods will be included in this lecture
for practitioners who are new to these novel lenses.
9J: Keratoplasty, Dr. Scott Hauswirth
This course presents information on managing different modalities of keratoplasty, including PK, DSEK,
and DSEK procedures. Included are co-management strategies and how to set proper surgical expectations
with patients.

10K: Integrating Scleral Lenses into Your Practice, Dr. Derek Louie
The attendee will hear tips and recommendations to aid in smoothly integrating this exciting new technology to
their practice. Practice management techniques along with billing/coding recommendations will be discussed.

This course presents an overview on a broad array on causes of infectious keratitis. Differential diagnosis based
on presentation is covered as well as strategies to diagnose and treat the different forms.

1P: ICD-10-CM Documentation Concepts to Ensure Success (COPE Pending), Ana Bina
This interactive session will review chapter specific guidelines, I-10 codes and documentation concepts for
twenty common vision diagnosis. Session will include a comparison of current I-9 and future 1-10 coding,
along with group discussion on ways to leverage templates and EHRs to ensure coding success. Presenter
will share personal experience with dual coding in preparation for the conversion including time studies for
applying 1-10 codes. Finally, time will be spent discussing training ideas to ensure your entire office can
answer I-10 questions and appeal claim denials.
2Q: Blue Collar Billing & Coding: The Work Smarter Not Harder Approach
(43346-PM), Christopher Borgman
This course will review the 99000 and 92000 codes from an optometric-based practical perspective, and will
include examples and a template of how to efficiently, and accurately choose codes correctly. This in turn will
allow coding at higher levels which will in turn increase revenue but simultaneously provide protection in case
of a third party audit.

3R: HIPPA Omnibus, Privacy and Security Rules (COPE Pending), Danika Brinda
Privacy and Security is a growing part of our healthcare organizations. Understanding the regulations from the
HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, and the Omnibus Rule of 2013 become an essential part of
compliance and protection of the privacy and security of patient information. This session will focus on
understanding the basic requirements of the all the HIPAA regulations.

This course will review and discuss the pathology behind 14 real neuro-optometry and orbital pathology cases
that are not seen in optometry every day. An approach to review and use our knowledge of ocular anatomy,
physiology, and pathology will be reviewed to best manage patients that may not present every day. New
thoughts in the management and treatment of neuro-optometry and orbital pathology cases will be reviewed.

The purpose of this presentation is to provide a basic understanding of how healthcare reform is impacting
optometry and the way in which they practice and document going forward. Time will be taken to provide an
understanding of Managed Care Organizations, Medicare Advantage Plans and Accountable Care
Organizations. The presentation will also demonstrate the compliance, communication and standard of care
minimums required by these organizations to participate and/or to continue as a provider for these organizations.

6V: Healthcare Reform: Compliance and Audit Update, (43402-PM), Jon Weeding
The purpose of this presentation is to provide a basic understanding of how healthcare reform has increased
funding for enforcement of existing laws, regulations and requirements of healthcare providers. Real world
examples of increased audit activity in optometry, their “triggers” and results will be shared. This presentation
will also demonstrate how the increased focus on compliance and audit activity, as well as changes in
reimbursements, are affecting the way optometry must practice to fully participate in eye care moving forward.
7W: How Low Can You Go: Cataracts & Glaucoma (41711-PO), Dr. Justin Schweitzer
Cataracts and glaucoma are two conditions that often coexist, as they both become more common with age.
This course will cover the benefits of cataract surgery alone and in combination with Minimally Invasive
Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) or filtration surgery for your patients with cataracts and glaucoma. The course will
provide the participant with a guide for managing postoperative complications related to cataract surgery in
combination with MIGS or filtration surgery.

8X: HIPAA Security Risk Analysis (43395-PM), Danika Brinda
The HIPAA Risk Analysis is one of the major focuses of the HIPAA regulations currently. With
the requirement to do a HIPAA Risk Analysis under Meaningful Use and the focus of the 2014 HIPAA audits,
conducting a risk analysis and mitigating all risks becomes an essential part of HIPAA compliance. This
presentation will focus on understanding the requirement under HIPAA for the risk analysis and risk
management, looking at best practices to conduct the risk analysis, and discussing short falls and issues that
healthcare organizations have faced. The risk analysis creates the foundation of any HIPAA compliance
program.
9Y: A Room with a View…Medical Management of Glaucoma (41710-GL), Dr. Justin Schweitzer
This course will review current and new diagnostic testing used to manage glaucoma today. Strategies of
managing glaucoma patients will be discussed. Treatment options, both pharmaceutical and surgical options
will be outlined.

10Z: Cloudy Funky Bow Tie: Cataracts and Irregular Astigmatism, (41691-PO), Dr. Justin Schweitzer
Cataracts and irregular astigmatism can present challenges when cataract surgery is imminent. This course
will cover the causes of irregular astigmatism and whether it should be addressed before, at the time of, or
after cataract surgery. A review of surgical and non-surgical treatment options of irregular astigmatism when
cataract surgery is necessary will be discussed.

MOA 2015 Annual Meeting registration includes access to all sessions, materials, exhibits, lunches, refreshment breaks, and
receptions indicated, and according to pre-registration policies. Single day registrations include all of the above for the day
attending. Space is limited and pre-registration is strongly advised. Register for the Annual Meeting via mail, fax or email to
[email protected]. Check, MasterCard, Visa or American Express may be used for payment. Registration fees
must be paid in U.S. dollars drawn on a U.S. bank. Payment must accompany registration. Payment vouchers or purchase
orders will not be accepted as payment. Registrations received without proper payment will not be processed. Course
confirmation will be provided via e-mail.
By registering for the MOA 2015 Annual Meeting your contact information will be provided to our event sponsors and
suppliers. As an attendee of the MOA 2015 Annual Meeting, your attendance serves as your approval for photos to be taken
and used in future MOA promotions. Finally, as a MOA 2015 Annual Meeting attendee you agree to not hold the MOA liable
should an event occur on-site in which you are harmed.
Cancellations
Please submit Annual Meeting cancellations in writing by e-mail, mail or fax to the MOA office on or before January 16, 2015.
All meeting cancellations will be assessed a cancellation fee, which will be a percentage of fees submitted. Cancellations received
after January 16, 2015 may not be honored. No-shows will not be refunded.
