She mentioned that they were working on a book about the idea that “mothers and daughters are fathers, too.” Will you check to see if they ever wrote that book? A: As if a mother-daughter children’s book writing team weren’t a charming enough concept, Julie Andrews and her daughter, Emma Walton Hamilton, wrote a book specifically about the Dr. Newnam is board certified in Family Practice and Sleep Medicine. mother-daughter relationship. “Thanks to You: Wisdom from Mother & Child” was published in 2007. Though there’s no mention of the father analogy, this is their book dealing with that relationship. Its jacket material reads: “Children learn much about the world from their mothers. But what about the unexpected wisdom mothers gain while parenting?” Hamilton is Andrews’ daughter from her first marriage to designer Tony Walton. To make this situation even cuter, Walton illustrated several of Andrews and Hamilton’s books, including the “Dumpy the Dumptruck” series and “The Great American Mousical.” (The latter book is about mice who have a Word Processing ALIGN BOLD BULLETS CENTER CLIP ART CROP CUT EXIT EXPORT FONTS ICONS INDENT INDEX INSERT ITALICS LANDSCAPE LAYOUT LETTERS MACRO MARGIN MENU MICROSOFT WORD NEW theater underneath Broadway in New York and so is likely very close to the heart of Andrews, who appeared on Broadway a number of times herself, though she always worked above ground.) In a sprawling interview he did with “Entertainment Weekly,” Moss said he left partly due to salary issues, partly to pursue new projects and partly just for a change. “I felt that I needed to go in this new direction to give myself the chance to do all the creative things that I haven’t had a chance to do in 25 years because I’ve dedicated so much of my life to this.” The show’s production company, Bell-Phillip Television Productions, Inc., issued a statement saying: “We will always consider him family, and we wish him only the best in all of his future endeavors.” However, so far only one endeavor has involved Moss being on screen. He hosts his own chat show, “Ronn’s Garage,” which he also directs, produces and self-releases online (you can see it at RonnMoss.com, or YouTube.com). Guests have so far been friends for the most part, including a number of former “Bold and the Beautiful” co-stars such as Lorenzo Lamas (who played Hector Ramirez), Sean Kanan (who played Deacon Sharpe) and Katherine Kelly Lang (another original cast member, who has played Brooke Logan for the show’s entire run). Among his other creative projects has been a renewed dedication to his longtime rock band, Player. Before joining “The Bold and the Beautiful,” Moss was a rising star in pop music. Player released a couple of hit singles in the late ‘70s, including “Baby Come Back,” which was the top song on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. Q: Before Judge Milian started on “The People’s Court,” it was Judge Jerry Sheindlin on the bench. Is he related to Judge Judith Sheindlin, also known as Judge Judy? A: Gerald Sheindlin is, in fact, Mr. Judge Judy. Together, Judy and Jerry Sheindlin make up America’s premiere (and perhaps only) judicial power couple. Both were judges in real life before joining their shows (which is not always the case — Judge Jerry’s predecessor on “The People’s Court,” Ed Koch, was not a judge, though he was a lawyer and the former mayor of New York). Jerry was a judge in the New York Supreme Court, and Judy started out in the New York Criminal Court and then moved on to the family court system. The two married in 1977, when they were still lawyers. They were both appointed judges a few years later, both by none other than Mayor Koch. Judge Jerry picked up the “People’s Court” gavel in 1999, at which point “Judge Judy” was already a daytimeTV hit. He joked at the time about the competition that could well up between them. “I think that behind every great woman there is a man,” Sheindlin told the “L.A. Times.” “So I may be behind her now, but I also heard a rumor that behind every great man there is a woman. So we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.” Have a question?
