Our goal is to provide these children and every child in Medina County safety, healing, and an opportunity to reach their full potential. 2013 has been a wonderful year of growth for the Children’s Center. During this past year, we were able to reach 1,446 children, 503 adults, and 392 families in Medina County with our programs and passionate staff, volunteers, partners, and board members. Our heartfelt thanks goes to the Medina County Community for your support this past year. In 2014, we are looking forward to continuing this collaborative effort to further prevent child abuse. Together, we are healing families and changing lives. Respectfully Submitted, Rhonda Wurgler Executive Director ACCOMPLISHMENTS 58 children came to the Children’s Center in 2013 as a result of Child Sexual Abuse. We provided these children 30 Medical Examinations and 52 Forensic Interviews during 2013. Statement from a parent: “WOW, I could not have asked for or expected a more amazing group of people or experience– All my thanks, respect, & gratitude” Statement from a parent: “All the nurses were SO nice and VERY informative and really took their time to care about my child! I felt very comfortable opening up to them about my childs situation and found talking to them to be very helpful for me mentally as a parent who may have a child who may have been abused.” 542 Foster Care visits were conducted at the Children’s Center in 2013. 23 families and 38 children benefitted from the Children’s Center’s 2 playrooms. Foster Care visits provide children and their parents an opportunity to spend time together during their time of separation. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Our Adopt-a-Family Christmas program provided 624 children Christmas gifts, helping 311 families. We are thankful for the 140 community members, businesses, families, civic groups, and churches that provided these gifts. Quote: “Dear Angels!! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I am crying as I write this. God Bless you and you have no idea how this helps my children and me!” In 2013, we were able to increase Community Outreach and Prevention of child abuse. We reached 726 children and 503 adults through our “Pinwheels for Prevention” open house, Family-a-Fair, Back to School Rallies, service projects at the Children’s Center, Human Trafficking and “Stewards of Children” trainings, as well as other community events throughout Medina County.
