THE GAME
The five-time reigning MEAC champion Lady Pirates will hit the road on Monday, squaring off against
Morgan State at 5:30 p.m. in the Hill Field House
THE OPPONENT
The Lady Pirates are 27-11 against Morgan State, and Hampton has won each of the last nine meetings between the two teams — including a 63-43 win at the Convocation Center earlier this season.
The Lady Pirates are 9-8 against Morgan State in Baltimore, Md.
LADY PIRATES: ROAD WARRIORS
The Lady Pirates were 10-3 in true road games last season, and they closed the 2013-14 campaign
with eight straight wins in true road contests. Hampton is 58-26 in road games under head coach
David Six after a 71-66 overtime loss at Norfolk State on Jan. 31, and the Lady Pirates have won at
least 10 road games in each of the last four seasons.
UNPRECEDENTED: FIVE IN A ROW
Prior to the 2013-14 season, no MEAC women’s team had ever won five straight conference tournaments. But when the Lady Pirates defeated Coppin State 50-47 in last year’s MEAC Tournament title
game, they did just that. Head coach David Six has won the MEAC Tournament in each of his five
seasons at the helm. During that span, Hampton went 62-2 in MEAC play (74-2 including MEAC
Tournament games). That stretch includes back-to-back seasons in which the Lady Pirates went
undefeated in conference play; overall, the Lady Pirates had won 54 straight games against MEAC
foes, including conference tournament games, prior to a loss at Savannah State on Jan. 24.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
Morgan State, in its ninth season under head coach Donald Beasley, has
lost three of its last four games after falling 64-56 to Norfolk State on Saturday. Senior guard Tracey Carrington leads the Lady Bears in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game, while freshman guard Braennan Farrar is averaging 12.7 points per contest.
LADY PIRATES AGAINST THE MEAC
Hampton is 321-140 against teams currently in the MEAC — including a 2711 mark against Morgan State — and the Lady Pirates have won eight
MEAC regular-season titles to go along with eight tournament titles, including each of the last five. Overall, the Lady Pirates had won their last 54
games against MEAC foes prior to a loss at Savannah State on Jan. 24.
LADY PIRATES PICKED TO FINISH SECOND
Hampton has been picked to finish second in the MEAC this season in a
preseason poll voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors. North Carolina A&T, the 2013-14 MEAC runners-up, were
chosen to win the conference this season.
LADY PIRATES THE MEAC’S BEST
Since Hampton joined the MEAC in 1995, no program has won as many
conference tournament titles. The Lady Pirates have won eight titles overall
— including the last five — while Howard has the second-most with four.
Over that same span, Hampton has won at least a share of seven regularseason titles, which is also the most among conference teams.
LADY PIRATES: VIRGINIA’S BEST
Since David Six’s arrival, the Lady Pirates have been the best program in
the Commonwealth of Virginia — even better than such programs as James
Madison, Old Dominion, Virginia, Richmond, and Liberty. On top of five
straight MEAC Tournament titles, four straight MEAC regular-season titles,
and five straight NCAA Tournament appearances, the Lady Pirates are serving notice throughout Virginia.
Over the past five seasons, Hampton has the best record among Virginia’s
Div. I women’s basketball programs, compiling a .784 winning percentage
during Six’s tenure.

TATE-DeFREITAS A SCORING MACHINE
Sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas is coming off a 2013-14 campaign that saw her earn MEAC Rookie of the Year honors after tallying
596 points over the course of her debut season. In dropping a careerhigh 37 points at South Carolina State on Jan. 26, Tate-DeFreitas became the 26th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark
for her career. Tate-DeFreitas is tied for the MEAC lead in scoring, while
also ranking 15th in the nation, and she leads the conference in minutes

After the 1995 season, Six left Hampton High to become the head varsity boys coach at Gloucester (Va.) High School. Six is the only boys
coach in Gloucester history to qualify for the district tournament – a feat
he accomplished twice.

At the conclusion of the 1998 season, Six returned to the helm at Hampton High. Again Six ignited the program, capturing the 2000 district tournament championship.
In the 2001 season, the Lady Crabbers won the district and district tournament championship, before capturing the first female state championship in the 105-year history of Hampton High, finishing the season 27-3.
At that point, Six-coached teams had won seven straight district titles,
and an astounding eight straight district tournament titles, en route to a
