CURRICULUM
YEAR 9 AND BEYOND
Placement Test
(October 2014)
Students are placed in one of three bands: A, B and C. B Band is split
into two for timetabling purposes.
We use e-asTTle as our entrance test, and moderate by using
students’ earlier e-asTTle results and other information from feeder
schools. We test in reading, writing and numeracy.
Students moved bands after the Mid-Year Examinations if their
results show they are in the wrong band.

Reclassification Process (May)
• After the mid year examinations, there is a
reclassification process where students may move up
or down to another band.
• Reclassification is based on 5 subjects: English,
Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Languages
because all students do these subjects.
• There are three Bands: A, B and C (B is split into 2 for
timetabling purposes).
• All students are ranked in order after the mid year examinations, but only
those who have done significantly well will move up or down into
another band.
• If a student’s results still have him in the same band, he will not move
classes. The reason for this is that he doesn’t change his subject teachers
unnecessarily. However, any improvement or drop will be indicated on
the mid year report.
