Doug Horton
Robert Luddy
Doug is an independent engineering and technology consultant
with over thirty-eight years of corporate and consulting experience
in the foodservice equipment industry. He currently specializes on
issues related to commercial kitchen ventilation, including research,
applications, and forensic fire investigations. Doug is a popular
speaker on commercial kitchen ventilation research and issues at
professional development seminars, and over the past two years,
he has written and published several articles on kitchen ventilation
subjects. Doug has participated on ASHRAE’s Technical Committee
on Kitchen Ventilation for over 20 years.
Recognizing the demand for a quality manufacturer of kitchen
ventilation equipment, Bob purchased a sheet metal shop in 1981
and transformed that into CaptiveAire Systems. Today, CaptiveAire
employs over 850 employees, with over seventy offices nationwide,
and sales over $300 million in 2014. A strong advocate of
excellent education, Bob founds schools which help youth develop
good character and reasoning skills. In 1998, Bob established the
Franklin Academy, an award-winning public charter school in Wake
Forest, which now serves over 1,200 K-12 students. In 2001, Bob
founded St. Thomas More Academy in Raleigh, a classical, college
preparatory high school. In 2007, Bob opened Thales Academy in
Raleigh, the first in a network of private community schools offering
a high-quality K-12 education at low-cost tuition.
Mike Morgan
Mike has twenty-one years of experience with commercial
kitchen ventilation, primarily with sales and marketing product
development. Mike holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial
Engineering from Trenton State College, and is heavily involved with
the latest research, testing, and codes/standards development.
Mike is involved with ASHRAE TC5.10, Technical Committee
for Commercial Kitchen Ventilation, and currently serves as the
Program Sub Committee Chair.

Brady Ambrose
As a graduate in Research Physics from Utah State University,
Brady has spent most of the past ten years working in research
labs, performing field audits of engineering design, and developing
real-time cloud based jobsite monitoring technologies. Brady’s
primary focus is in developing new integration technologies for
sustainable designs in the HVAC and Ventilation Industry.
