BACKGROUND
Smart grid is an automated, widely distributed
energy delivery network, characterized by a twoway flow of electricity and real-time information
that will be capable of monitoring everything from
power plants to customer preferences to individual
appliances and enable near-instantaneous balance
of supply and demand. However, efficient and
reliable operation of a Smart Grid require a
effective computational methods for adaptation
control and scheduling that optimizes a plethora of
performance parameters and not only satisfies an
increasingly performance-demanding consumer but
also minimizes a Smart Grid’s overall carbon
footprint. This short term course would provide a
theoretical overview of the various computational
methods employed for efficient Smart Grid
operation. Further, hands-on would be given on
standard MATLAB tools pertaining to each of these
computational procedures. The objective of the
course is to provide a broad overview of both
theoretical and practical (in terms of MATLAB
tools) aspects of a complete Smart Grid operations
management.

ABOUT IIT GUWAHATI
IIT Guwahati campus is spread over a sprawling
285 hectares plot of land on the north bank of the
river Brahmaputra about 25 km from the heart of
the city. Guwahati is the gateway to the beautiful
northeastern region of the country and linked with
all major Indian cities by rail, road and air.
Guwahati has a moderate climate with
temperature varying between 70C to 370C.
Summer season spreads from May to August with
the possibility of rain. Buses, auto-rickshaws and
taxis are available from Guwahati to the IITG
Campus.
ELIGIBILITY
The course is open to the teachers of Engineering
Colleges approved by QIP. No course fee is to be
charged for participants sponsored by QIP approved
institutions.
Participants from Industry and Government
organizations are eligible, provided pay a course fee
of Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 2500/- respectively and they
meet their T.A. and D.A.
