ISF Footwear News is available exclusively on www.indianshoefederation.in 2 Colour is light The LINEAPELLE Fashion Experts spoke on “Light as the underlying theme of the season, and the perceptive and sensorial aspects of light will let us see the future with fresh eyes.” 2015 will be the “International Year of Light“ they added. The ranges explore the different effects of light on things: The faded colours of the winter will take on sophisticated tones; the intense colours will be warm and dense. The absence of light will inspire the dark shades of greys and violets, explored in all their declinations, extending into brown. Materials take centre stage this season, forms move towards simplification and find new life in their material nature. Light creates precious surfaces, which bring added value to products: new opacities and shine, effects playing with sharp focus and out of focus, softness and construction. New décor evokes the magnificence of the Renaissance, but with a sacrilegious approach and an unexpected evolution into Rock. Technology and experimentation meet craftsmanship. Modernity is embraced within two other key concepts: season no season and sustainability. There was an excellent participation from the Industry and covered Tanners, Shoe Manufacturers, Leather Goods and Accessory Manufacturers, Leather Garment Manufacturers, Shoe Component Manufacturers, Chemical Companies, Institutions and Associations. In conclusion, they presented the dates of the next edition: LINEAPELLE for ‘Spring Summer 2016 season’ will be held together with SIMAC & TANNING-TECH – the fair of machinery and technology for the footwear, leather goods and tanning industries from 25-27 February 2015 in Milan. ISF Footwear News is available exclusively on www.indianshoefederation.in 3 Colour Trends for MODEUROP Spring Summer 2016 The Indian Shoe Federation is a co-sponsor of the MODEUROP Spring Summer 2016 season In Picture: Members of the MODEUROP Fashion Pool selecting the ‘colours’ for the ‘Spring Summer 2016 season’ MODEUROP Colour Card for SS 2016 will release on 27th Nov 2014 Winning Colours from INDIA: At the MODEUROP Roundtable and Colour Club Meeting for the Spring Summer 2016 season that was held during 22-23 October 2014 in Offenbach, Germany, the leathers and colours were presented in three colour groups: Softs, Basics and Folks. Winning Colours from India: 12 out of 19 colours for Shoes, and 8 out of 9 colours for Leather Garments feature from India. Colour Trends S/S 2016: New Colour Perspectives By Mrs Marga Indra Heide& Mr Gebhard Mueller The colour forecast for the 2016 season is promising. New perspectives are opening up because familiar colour schemes modified with a fresh twist open new doors. Influences of high-tech and the virtual world on social life form an integral part of design here. It is especially this networking of industrial design and fashion focus that give a stimulating boost to new developments and changes in materials and proportions. Also striking here are the close correlations between lifestyle themes and colour groups that can, of course, be broken up again, thereby creating attractive suspense. Add to this an increasing number of capsule collections geared to target groups and lifestyle themes that ask for special colour orientations. In keeping with the slogan ‘Simplify your Life’ ModEurop’s new colour themes for S/S 16 were also given relatively simple, comprehensible and easy-to-understand headings! The Softs – fresh pastels The Basics – indispensable looks The Folks – strong, ethnic-inspired nuances For copies of the MODEUROP Colour Card for the Spring Summer 2016 season, please contact: CSIR-CLRI Shoe Design & Development Centre at [email protected] ISF Footwear News is available exclusively on www.indianshoefederation.in 4 SNIPPETS Indian Footwear Brands Tata International seeks to expand exports footprint, cut Europe dependence Tata International, the global trading and distribution arm of the over-$103 billion Tata Group, has chalked out an aggressive plan to increase revenues from exports in the next 2-3 years. India's largest exporter of footwear registered overall revenues to Rs 900 crore -- from five business verticals – leather and leather products, metals trading, minerals trading, distribution (auto and allied) and agri trading -- in fiscal 2013-14. The management is now working on increasing revenues over 55% to Rs 1,400 crore. "We are looking at footwear exports of a minimum of 10 million pairs from 6.5 million at present. As far as domestic market is concerned, we are looking to sell at least 1 million pairs," said N Mohan, global business head, footwear and leather garments, Tata International Ltd, said at the launch of women's footwear brand 'Aerosoles' in India. While TIL currently owns no footwear brands, Mohan confirmed about plans to introduce private labels in the coming years. "We have registered many brands and are currently working on the unique selling proposition aspect for these brands. There are also plans to launch stand-alone footwear stores to retail the Aerosoles range in a year or two," he said. The company exports 99% of its products to the European markets and plans to add more geographies. "This year, we will be adding three large corporations for selling footwear in the US market. Other newer markets like Australia and South Africa will be added in addition to Latin American countries like Chile and Brazil," said Mohan, adding that three years down the line approximately 60% revenues will be from exports to Europe followed by 30% in the US and 10% to rest of the markets. On the margin front, Mohan said that an ex-factory price of say Rs 100 translates into a retail price of Rs 400 in European markets. "The scenario isn't very different in India. An ex-factory price of Rs 100 will translate into a retail price of Rs 300," he said. TIL is planning a capex of Rs 25-30 crore in the next three years, most of which will go for building capacity and training of workforce. The company currently has associations with major global footwear brands like Kenneth Cole, Florsheim, Lloyd, Hush Puppies, Bugatti, Pepe Jeans, Clarks and leading retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Zara, Massimo Dutti, John Lewis, Aldo and others. In 2012, TIL announced a strategic alliance with Aerogroup International to produce and market the Aerosoles brand in Europe and India in 2012. While the company has been extensively selling the footwear in Europe, this is the first time Aerosoles will be made available in India. Of the overall export revenues, the Aerosoles business contributes around Rs 170 crore. "The target in the next three years is to increase this number to Rs 300 crore," said Mohan. ISF Footwear News is available exclusively on www.indianshoefederation.in 5 India could export extra leather to boost Vietnam’s footwear industry Indian tanneries could provide extra leather to Vietnam to support its growing footwear industry, said Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung during a trade visit. The two countries have agreed to increase their trade from $5.2 billion in 2013 to $7 billion in 2015 and $15 billion by 2020. India’s Tata Group is building thermal power plant in the southern province of Soc Trang, the largest Indian project in Vietnam. Tata owns a tannery and several footwear and leathergoods facilities. It recently announced expansions in both its footwear making capacity and in automotive leather and its contacts in the country could prove beneficial. Vietnam recently expressed concerns that its leather footwear industry was not well enough equipped to take advantage of new trade deals with the EU, as its manufacturers did not have either the correct knowledge or testing facilities. It is investing around 200,000 euros in a project to bring shoemakers up to speed with EU regulations and is considering creating new testing houses.
