The Value of Experience
We advised a long-time client on his personal Ùnances for several years prior to what he felt was the
opportunity of a lifetime. He, along with several other key executives, completed the sale for cash of
the soÝware business they founded. Although this liPuidity event was anticipated for some time, the
client hadn’t envisioned the challenge he would face in preserving a once-in-a-lifetime payout while
the markets were in a period of dislocation.
Having known us for several years, the client understood our approach. Although we couldn’t
eliminate all of his anxiety, our strategies helped him and his family make the decision to move
forward with the plans they had thought about for years. Our ability to step in and provide a broad
array of wealth management services allowed his family to enjoy precious time for themselves,
unencumbered by the demands brought on by their new Ùnancial status.
Case studies are intended to illustrate brokerage and banking products and services available at Merrill Lynch. You should not consider these as an
endorsement of Merrill Lynch as an investment advisor or as a testimonial about a client’s experiences with us as an investment advisor. Case studies do
not necessarily represent the experiences of other clients, nor do they indicate future performance. Investment results may vary. The investment strategies
presented are not appropriate for every investor and should be considered given a person’s investment objectives, financial situation and particular needs.
Clients should review with their Merrill Lynch financial advisor the terms, conditions and risks involved with specific products and services.

accompany the responsibilities of wealth. Inevitably, risk management and helping
clients and their families understand the wealth management process come before
anything else we may consider.
We believe that our disciplined wealth management process comes close to gauging
an individual’s true attitude toward risk. With an awareness for risk, we work
individually with clients and their families to address needs that go beyond how their
investments are performing.
We help you with the big picture
Individuals go down many di¦erent paths to accumulate wealth. lthough their
stories are unique, we see similar needs. The strategies we bring, however, can be
vastly di¦erent. -ne constant is the need for help with the big picture.
We are experienced with a wide range of client situations, such as multigenerational
needs, starting a new career, pursuing a passion, helping members of the next
generation with their dreams, even learning to enjoy a break from the working
world. Helping you pursue what’s important to you, as well as helping you with
more common §nancial issuesZsuch as how to fund a child’s education or your own
retirementZis what we are passionate about.
6
“ We want to be your family’s financial advisor for many
years to come. It’s our belief that helping you understand
the markets, including the potential benefits and risks,
can build trust. One of the many ways we can help you
expand your knowledge base is by encouraging you to
participate in financial education events.”
