CW Round Table to meet in Harrisburg
The Harrisburg Civil War Round Table's
next meeting is Friday, Feb 27. at the Radisson
Penn Harris Hotel & Convention Center, Camp
Hill, PA, Camp Hill Bypass @ Routes 11 & 15.
The speaker is Sheldon Munn, speaking on
"General & Governor John White Geary."
Mexican War veteran John White Geary’s Civil
War record spanned the battles of Cedar
Mountain, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg in the
East, and Lookout Mountain, Atlanta and
Sherman’s March to the Sea in the West. After
the war, Geary served as Governor of
Pennsylvania. Part of Sheldon’s passion for his
topic came from his studies to become a
Gettysburg licensed guide, when he learned that
the Geary monument on Culp’s Hill had never
been officially dedicated. On August 11, 2007,
Sheldon orchestrated the official dedication of that
monument. Attendees included the Governor and
congressional leaders, National Park Service personnel, licensed battlefield guides and members
of the Harrisburg CWRT, as well as Civil War reenactors, musicians, and over 400 guests.
An informal reception starts at 6 p.m. fol-
lowed by dinner at 6:45 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $22 per person for those who wish to have
