9.30amRecognising and Responding
to Changes in a Competitive Market
Morgan Stewart,
Group Operations Manager, Blacktown Workers Club Group
“We are fighting with other businesses for the discretionary spend of customers”
A simple enough statement but a battle call for Board of Directors who advise Club strategy and Club Managers who implement
strategy. We are competing for every dollar available for our customers to spend each week. Our competitors know this too and
have savvy marketing machines already in action to draw our heartland and social customers away from our Clubs with enticing and
easy offers such as franchise food offers, food courts, major retail offers and the ever growing presence of online betting. We must
recognise that change is required, ensuring that our offer is relevant to our community and responding quickly to be ahead of the
competition.
