speed with many new features in Office
2010/2013. You’ll learn Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and more. We cover
Word (Oct. 7–Oct. 28) and Excel
(Nov. 4–Nov. 25, no class Nov. 11),
then PowerPoint (Dec. 2). Register for
the whole class or just blocks. No
previous MS Office experience is
required.

the essential Photoshop tools that you
can use to create amazing graphics with
photos, designs and logos. Topics
include an overview of common
crobat Pro, part of the Adobe
Creative Suite (available free for
UMass staff) allows users to easily make
PDFs, delete,
extract, reorder
or replace
pages in a PDF,
edit contents of
PDFs, and
more. In this 4session class,
you will learn how to use Acrobat Pro
tools to create, combine, and split PDF
files, to add, highlight and replace text,
and insert bookmarks, comments,
buttons and links. No previous
Acrobat Pro experience is required.

formatting tricks. This 5-week
intermediate Excel class will cover
more complex formulas and useful
functions, cell and conditional
formatting, charts and pivot tables.
You’ll learn how to format worksheets
effectively, use Excel functions like IF,
VLookup & Match, analyze
worksheets, and create pivot tables to
make your data easier to understand.
Prerequisite: basic knowledge of Excel.

efficiency instructor Peter Talmage
will explain twelve different ways you
can lower your energy usage, cut your
utility bills, and help the environment.
Most are free or low-cost, while others
require some investment, including
heat pumps. All have very good returns
on your investment. You’ll also learn
where to find funds to do energy
earn how solar electric PV
(photovoltaic) systems work and
ways to make it affordable right now.

we get sick, but we’re not sure
about how to be—or stay—healthy.
We’ll learn about some of the wellness
programs that UMass, GIC plans, and
western Massachusetts have to offer.
We’ll work on “health coaching”—ways
to support our friends, co-workers, and
family in their quest for good health,
and tips for getting the support we
need for own wellbeing. We’ll also
learn some yoga and workplace
wellness exercises and explore online
wellness resources.
