Gymtowne’s Optional Team Heats Up The Winter Invitational!
February 7-8, 2015, Hosted by San Mateo Gymnastics
It finally rained in the Bay Area, but that didn’t stop our Optional team from shining bright at the Winter
Invitational in Redwood City. With top local teams vying for big scores, our Optional girls pulled out all the
stops and had a successful week-end.
Level 6: Younger Division– Zoe Kalem’s innovative beam routine hit all the marks and scored 9.200 and a 3rd
place medal. On the floor, she placed 4th with a 9.150 score. In the Older Division, Makayla Vining placed in
the top 5 on the Beam (5th place, 9.000) and as an All Around Gymnast (5th place, 35.050). Her best event was
the floor, where her beautiful routine placed 3rd (9.275).
Level 7: Sierra Kolomatangi was a solid competitor in the Younger division where she placed 5th on the bars,
beam, floor and All Around (35.100). Our newest Optional team member, Anya Wu had an awesome meet in
the Middle division. She placed 3rd on both the vault (9.150) and floor (9.175). Her 5th places on the bars and
beam rounded out her scores to bring her in as 4th in the All Around standings (35.175).
Level 8: In the Younger division, Ysabell Myhres placed 5th on the vault. Joli Chiu, in the Older division, owned the vault. Her
running approach and flying style secured the 1st place medal (9.000). She also placed 3rd on the bars and 5th on the floor (9.000) to
earn a 4th place All Around score of 35.250 and become the top scorer on our Gymtowne team. Nia Guevara placed 7th in the floor
event.
Level 9: In the Older division, Julia Bellamy excelled on the bars (3rd place) and floor (3rd place, 9.000). Though she only
competed in three events, she still placed 5th overall.
Level 10: Kate Nelson placed 5th on the vault (9.100) and beam in the Middle division to earn an overall 6th place All Around
Gymnast medal.
It was totally Fun for Gymtowne’s Xcel Teams at the “Totally Awesome 80’s Meet”!

Well on their way to having one of Gymtowne’s best Xcel seasons yet, our Xcel gymnasts
braved the weather to compete at this totally awesome and fun competition event!
Bronze Level: Younger division– Bridgett Timpano led the pack with a 2nd on the beam
(9.525) and 5th places on the vault and All Around. Stephanie Beckler placed 4th on the floor
and 5th on the bars. Older division– On the bars, Camille Bennett tied for 7th place. Team
Award– Our Xcel Bronze team came in 2nd in the overall points division.
Silver Level: Jr. B divison– Nataly Neves dominated over this division. She placed 1st on
the bars (9.775), 2nd on the vault, beam and floor to win the 1st place All Around Gymnast
honors (37.525). On the floor, Julissa Matadamas was #1 with a 1st place score of 9.425. She also placed 3rd on the vault and
overall. Coming in 3rd on the beam, Elise Hackenberg scored a 5th place in the All Around standings. Genesis Hamilton tied
for 2nd on the bars (9.500) and 4th on the vault. A top score on the floor earned Nadia Fedotova a 3rd place medal. Isabella
Pautin placed 5th on the uneven bars. Sr. A division– Olivia Ciaravino reigned supreme with a near 1st place sweep. She was
1st on the bars (9.625), bars, floor and All Around (37.650). She was 2nd on the vault. Abby Moore was a close 2nd with an
All Around score of 36.375. She also placed 2nd on the bars (9.600) and floor. Fourth All Around was Katherine Tse. Her
best event was the floor where she placed 3rd. Tessa Mahon placed 5th on the floor. Sr. B division- Clarina Camica came in
2nd on both the bars and floor. Her 4th on the beam helped place her 3rd All Around. Julia Kuschner had an 8th place vault
while Padma Armstrong tied for 8th on the floor. Team Award– Our Xcel Silver team placed 2nd overall with a 1st place on
the uneven bars.
Gold Level: Younger division– Shea Wakasa’s best event was the uneven bars where she tied for 2nd place. She also placed
4th on the vault and All Around. With a 2nd place medal for the floor event around her neck, Tessa Payne tied for 5th overall.
Anna Steinberg placed 4th on both the beam and floor and tied for 5th place in the overall scorings. Riley Rhodes placed 7th
on the bars. Middle division– Coming in 4th on the vault was Gracie Mahon. Maxine Lanier tied for 5th on the bars while
Athena Kalabolas was 9th on both the bars and beam. Older division– The Bellino sisters competed in this division with
Natalie placing 2nd on the vault and Emma scoring a 5th place on the floor. Team Award– Our Xcel Gold team easily placed
3rd in the overall standings.
Platinum Level: Kaileigh Willis flew high on the vault for a 2nd place medal. With a 5th place on the beam, she came in 4th
overall. Allison Koehler’s best event, the bars, earned her a 2nd place. She also placed 5th on the floor. On the vault, Grace
Hagy came in 6th. Team Award– With a small Platinum team, our Xcel gymnasts placed 2nd.
