Thanks for your cooperation! We hope to see you on April 7th, 8th & 9th! Fitness Corner by: Penny Durocher Are you drinking enough water? There are many reasons why you should be: ATTENTION! Tai Chi and Qigong Exercise Class With Instructors Andrew Chan and Lau Ching Yee Qigong Exercise is based on a discipline of exercise that has its origin traced back a thousand years. It is interesting to note that drawings of figures performing the Qigong exercise (Eight Segments of Treasure), were found by the Chinese in an ancient grave. This form of exercise is especially suitable for seniors and is very popular in China. It is a series of gentle stretching and movements and is very easy to learn. Put a little ‘Spring’ in your step, by joining a Physical Activity or Dance class at The Good Companions! The Good Companions can help you keep physically active this Spring in a fun and friendly facility. We offer many Fitness and Recreational Dance Classes taught by certified fitness and dance professionals at very reasonable rates. Please refer to your Spring Program Guide 2015 for more details. “The Secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.” - Lucille Ball Introducing Valerie Hayes as our new (temporary) Volunteer/Membership Coordinator. Each month, a volunteer from the Day Centre (which includes Food Services and Admin volunteers) and Community Support Services will be highlighted with their photo and a brief write-up about their duties. Each volunteer that is selected will receive a free lunch voucher to our dining room. On the first of the month, two names are randomly selected by the Volunteer Services Coordinator to be featured for the following month. As long as the individual is an active volunteer, they will automatically be entered in the draw. To write about it for others to read is an act of generosity. Klaus Ruhland’s memoir is a brave and big-hearted gift. His story is one of challenge, transformations and determination. He takes us from pre-war Germany to cold-war Canada and beyond. He moves from the personal to the political with ease. But most of all he reminds his readers that a mysterious human spirit flickers brightly, even at the most difficult moments of a life story. This is a book written with openness and to be read with gratitude.” Kevin Burns-Ottawa,ON Please come and celebrate our friend’s special achievement with us.
