Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network,
a nationally recognized rehabilitation leader,
is presenting a one day symposium on
Pediatric Feeding Therapy.
Program Objectives
• Discuss the clinical signs and symptoms of
common pediatric GI illnesses and their effect
on feeding therapy success
• Discuss normal and abnormal feeding
development and the benefit from feeding
therapy
• Discuss strategies to support mothers and
infants during breastfeeding
• Discuss the effects of blenderized whole foods
and liquids through enteral tube and the
needs to promote growth and meet daily
requirements
• Discuss the role of at least three team
members on an interdisciplinary feeding team
and the use of a bio-behavioral flow sheet
• Describe the effect of postural control and
tone on the feeding process
• Discuss the experience of transitioning a
preterm infant from enteral to oral feeding in
the NICU and how it impacts the family
• Discuss strategies to overcome feeding
challenges in the early intervention
population
• Discuss appropriate referrals for feeding
therapy and basic strategies used in outpatient
feeding therapies
• Discuss strategies to increase support of
families and caregivers of children who
are in an in-patient feeding program
