Students are not permitted to attend school until they are fever free (without the use of medication) as well as symptom free ~ for 24 hours. Thank you! HEALTH ALERT: There was a case of Strep Throat reported in fifth grade and one case of Pink Eye reported in the Kindergarten class. Please be mindful to watch for signs. 2015-2016 PRE-REGISTRATION information was mailed to all Zion families. We would like 100% participation from our families. Please encourage one another as well as family and friends to experience the Zion difference! DO YOU NEED PARTNERSHIP HOURS? We are seeking a volunteer to deliver the diapers, which were collected for our diaper wars, to Harbor House. We would like to deliver them “this week.” Please contact Mrs. Hopman, if you are interested in helping and these hours will count toward PTL Partnership hours. There are no alternates in grades six through eight. The last practice session for contestants and alternates in preparation for the Bee is Thursday, February 19th (7:45-8:05am). Grades 1-4 will meet in the Kindergarten room. Grades 5-8 will meet in the B.A.S.C. room. We will go over the Bee rules and each speller will be given words from a practice list for his/her grade level. Hopefully, the practice sessions will help to instill confidence and enthusiasm for participation in the Bee! Get ready to spell and represent Zion! Go Zion Spellers! SOUTH SUBURBAN SPELLING BEE: The South Suburban Lutheran Schools Spelling Bee will be hosted by Zion Lutheran School, Beecher ~ on Saturday, February 21st. Special thanks to our coordinators, Mrs. Carolyn Cooper and Mrs. Kristin LoSchiavo. VISION AND HEARING SCREENINGS will be held on Wednesday, February 25th & Thursday, February 26th for the following grade levels ~ Vision: Preschool, 2nd & 8th grades. Hearing: Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd & 3rd grades. Parents paid for these screenings at registration, in August. If you wish to have your child tested (and the test is not in the above list) please send a note with $3.00 (per test) and indicate which test you wish to have performed. BOX TOPS: Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far to the Box Tops Program. The contest will run through Friday, February 27th. As of week two, we have raised $179.00. Check out the results on the chart, outside of the school office. Please check the dates on your Box Tops. Expired dates are not accepted. There are additional forms available outside the school office. Keep on clipping! AUNT MILLIES BAKERIES SCHOOL SPIRIT PROGRAM: PTL just received a check for $11.00 from Aunt Millie’s. Please keep clipping out and sending the proof-of-purchase to school. Aunt Millie’s will donate a nickel to our school for each proof of purchase submitted! Zion’s PTL can use the money for any school-oriented program. ART CLASS: The featured Art Class of the week is six grade! THE ANNUAL AR CHALLENGE began Monday, January 26th and will end on Friday, March 6th. There are approximately 100 Lutheran School participating. The Zion AR Challenge participants are students in Grades 1 st-8th. Details were sent home with students. Read to Succeed!
