JBT Primary Care Update- Scheduling and Provider Shortage

JBT Primary Care UpdateScheduling and Provider Shortage
To all patients who receive care at JBT’s Primary Care Clinic:
We, in JBT Health & Wellness Center, are committed to providing you with the best care possible. We want to let you
know about some recent provider team changes and how they might impact you in the short term. JBT’s primary care
team has experienced an unforeseen provider turnover over the last 2 months. This has left the team short on primary
care providers and with less access than we historically have been able to provide.
In the months of December and January, Asmara Measho, FNP, Tedd Levin, MD, and Jennifer Edman, MD, decided to
move on and pursue other opportunities. We had hoped for a lengthy transition time. We did not receive this. As a
result, beginning Monday, February 9th, we will temporarily staff the primary care clinic with providers from other OHSU
ambulatory clinics, specifically Family Medicine. It is important to note that this is a temporary staffing plan and that
permanent hires to fill out our team are underway.
We are currently conducting a search for two MD’s to join our clinic. We are also excited to announce that we have
already hired two very qualified Nurse Practitioners. Melissa Mannke, FNP, will join JBT full-time in early March.
Melissa has worked in student health for several years at Northeastern University and just recently relocated to the
Pacific Northwest. We are also excited to welcome Lindsey Fields, FNP, L.Ac. In addition to her experience as an FNP,
Lindsey is also a board certified acupuncturist. She will join the team in mid-April. Both providers will be wonderful
additions to the new primary care team at JBT.
While we make our staffing changes and have less robust access, you may need to seek primary or urgent care outside
of the JBT Primary Care Clinic. To help you with this, we updated the OHSU Student Health Insurance Plan to reduce the
costs to you. For the remainder of this plan year, the new cost for urgent or primary care services outside of JBT is $25
for the office visit. You will no longer need to meet the deductible and 20% of costs. In addition, we have completely
removed the referral requirement allowing in-network providers to be sought without first being seen at JBT.
Our behavioral health service remains fully staffed with same day access typically available. We have a full-time
psychiatrist and three PhD level psychologists who are available for appointments. Please feel free to make an
appointment with any of these providers. A primary care referral is not needed.
We ask for your understanding and patience over the next several months as we strive to keep normal operations in
place. All of us here are dedicated to your health and wellness. We look forward to introducing you to our new primary
care team as it develops.
Please let us know if you have any questions and/or concerns.
Sincerely,
JBT Staff and Leadership
