2015
Milestones...Suzie and I became owners of Pine Needles Quilt Shop 10 years ago. Our Rochester location celebrates 3 years in
April. Pine Needles has been in existence since January 1, 1999 for 16 marvelous years. As we look back it has been a wild and
crazy ride, we have learned so much, we have gained many new friends; we now call family. Our lives have truly been enriched and
blessed. Ten years ago we began with king sized determination and excitement to get to work. Still true today, each day unfolds a
new challenge, we love to unpack new fabrics, machines and notions as they arrive. Quilting and sewing has gained momentum over
the past 10 years, colors schemes and patterns seem to cycle in and out, only to return again with a new twist.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to each and every one of you. Pine Needles exists because of you, your loyal patronage over the years
with Bernina, fabrics and sewing supplies. We cannot begin to thank you enough. We salute our wonderful staff. We have been
blessed over the years; they have welcomed you through the doors of Pine Needles, and we love what they do. One person in
particular, our own Connie has been with us since day one, she has stuck through thick and thin and has truly been a Godsend for
Pine Needles, our staff and for you. Hats off to Connie!
We love to see your smiling faces in the shop, whether it be everyday or our friends from afar once or twice a year. You bring joy to
our shop, our lives and the lives of others as you share and gift the work of your hands and hearts through sewing and quilting. Many
of you have shared as you sew or quilt, it gives you a sense of peace and tranquility. Touching, cutting, arranging the colors, putting
pieces together to make a quilt is calming; the rewards of a finished project can be exhilarating. I have always touted if we could each
carve out 10 minutes here or there at our sewing machine, to unwind and recharge, over time we gain so much, wonderful finished
projects to give away as a part of yourself, a gift of handmade love and comfort that fills your soul.

Claudia Dinnell of Claudia’s Creations
If you have V7 software and an embroidery machine this
class is a MUST! We will spend one day learning some
of the ins and outs of digitizing on the first day , Days 2
& 3 will be spent on a project mastering multihooping
with Claudia’s marvelous methods. You will be amazed
at how easy it is. Workshop will include a catered lunch
each day plus a few other surprises. We will be adding a
in shop workday in early March so you can get the
piecing done before she gets here, you will be able to

WHO: All quilters who would like to create a
beautiful quilt to honor a military family in their
circle of friends, the community, or the nation.
WHEN: Challenge begins January 1, 2015 thru March 31, 2015

Challenge quilts will be displayed at local quilt shop April 6 – 18.

Customers may vote for their favorites. Each shop’s Viewers’ Choice winner will
receive a prize.

A digital image of the Viewers’ Choice winner from each shop will be entered in
Moda’s Piece and Comfort online quilt show.
WHERE: Pine Needles Quilt & Sew
WHAT: Ninety percent of quilt must be made with Moda fabrics. Fifty percent of
the Moda fabrics must come from one or both of the featured collections.

BORDER MAGIC
While Kaye will cover all of the basics for beginner (and
great refresher info for repeat attendees) we will be
moving on to some ways to use the rulers for pieced
borders. Kaye always entertaining and always willing to
share her knowledge to make your piecing easier, quicker and more accurate.
Workshops at the Kahler include a wonderful grouping of sueded flannel fat
quarters and a grouping of cotton print half yard cuts plus lunch each day.

Spring 2015 already?! Man how time flies here at Pine Needles Quilt & Sew! Lots of new BERNINA
things coming down the pipe-line – we are so excited about!

your center blocks placed and will give you tips on adding the

May – A fun day to finish up or continue with your work, visit
and share. Marcia will bring her famous chicken wild rice
soup and Sara is bringing a special dessert. We will celebrate
your embroidery success with this project and give you a
sneak peek at what is coming next!
Quiltworx – Paradise in Bloom a Judy Neimeyer exclusive to
Certified Quiltworx Shops. You can make a 76x76 size or the 96x96
size. This is the third in a series of quilts that brings together a
wide range of techniques for Foundation Paper Piecing; leaving
you with the ability to move on to many other Quiltworx patterns
once you have completed this design. Because of Judy’s dedication
to teaching, she chose to provide this program as not only a
monthly pattern block, she also went through the steps to provide
training to others to bring those of you that purchase the program
instructions as if it were Judy herself teaching you to make the

to offer you classes for all. Our instructors take great care to provide top notch content and
samples for you to learn and enjoy.
Please be on time for class, allowing time to get settled into class, if you are bringing your own
machine make sure you have all required feet, FHS and accessories needed.
You are not registered for any class without a payment. (exception is Bernina Mastery Series,
offered at no cost to our owners)
Refunds are issued as store credit or refund when PNQS must cancel a class due to bad weather or
low enrollment. One weeks notice is required for refunds.
Fabrics, patterns and supplies for class must be purchased at PNQS to comply with coordinating

I LOVE my Sterling 880, it really is the ultimate in a sewing/quilting/embroidery
experience. My second machine is a 7 series, and I love it too. I use this when my 880
is busy with embroidery or has the wrong color thread on it! Its thread cutter, dual
