Combine oil, peanut butter and water in a bowl. Add Flour 1 cup at a time, then knead into firm dough. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with small bone-shaped cookie cutter or small round. For a full list of toxic foods, see the ASPCA website at www.aspca.org Tuna Training Treats 2 6-oz. cans tuna in water, do not drain 2 eggs 1 to 1 1/2 c. flour (rice flour is best, but any kind will do) Parmesan cheese Mash tuna and water in a bowl with a fork to get clumps out, and then liquefy in blender or food processor. Add extra drops of water if needed to liquefy completely. Pour into bowl and add flour; consistency should be like cake mix. Spread into greased or sprayed pan. Sprinkle with lots of parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes; edges will pull away and texture will be like putty. Use a pizza cutter and slice into teeny squares. Cream the cheese with the softened margarine, salt, and flour. Add enough milk to form into a ball. Chill for 1/2 hour. Roll onto floured board. Cut into shapes and bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until slightly brown and firm. Makes 2 to 3 dozen, depending on size. Whole Wheat Goodness 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1/4 cup wheat germ 1/4 cup chicken or beef broth 4 Tbsp margarine, softened 1 egg, beaten 1 Tbsp molasses 1 cup rolled oats 3/4 cups wheat germ 1/4 cup flour 1/2 cup real bacon bits Mix together flour, wheat germ, and salt in a large bowl. Cut in margarine. Stir in beaten egg, molasses and broth. Add enough water so mixture can be shaped into a ball. Roll dough onto a floured board to a thickness of 1/2 inch. Cut into shapes and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 20 minutes, remove from oven and let cool. Makes about 30 biscuits. Bacon Biscuits 2 eggs beaten 3 Tbsp molasses 1/4 cup flaxseed oil 1/4 cup milk Mix and drop by teaspoons on a lightly greased sheet. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Home Made Frosty Paws 32 oz. vanilla yogurt 1 mashed banana or one large jar of baby fruit 2 Tbsp. peanut butter 2 Tbsp. honey Blend all together and freeze in either 3 oz. paper cups or ice cube trays. Process until smooth. Pour into a microwaveable container, approximately 8" square or round. Microwave on high until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. This takes 7 minutes in my microwave, approximately. When cooked, turn out of pan immediately, allow the bottom to dry since it will be damp from condensation, and cut into squares while still warm. Spread bits on a foil-lined cookie sheet and bake at 200° for 1.5 hours. Freeze or refrigerate. Baby Food Biscuits 1/2 cup plain flour 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats 1 egg slightly beaten 1/2 cup hot water 2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup powdered milk 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl and knead for about 3 minutes. Roll out to 1/3 inch thick. Cut with bone-shaped cookie cutter or round cutter, and place biscuits on an un-greased baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 min. Makes approximately 4 dozen Yorkie biscuits. Microwave Dog Biscuits 1 cup whole wheat flour 3/4 cup dry milk 1/4 cup cornmeal 1/3 cup shortening 1 tablespoon bouillon granules Combine flour, cornmeal, milk, oats and sugar. Cut in shortening. Add egg, bouillon and hot water. Knead 5 minutes. Roll 1/2-inch thick and cut out into favorite shapes. Microwave at 50% power for 5 to 10 minutes, rotating plate. These don’t last long, so make a bunch. www.YorkieYummies.com Delish Yorkie Dog Biscuit Recipes page 3 of 7 Bacon Flavored Dog Biscuit Treats 5 cups Whole wheat flour 1 cup water 2 Eggs 10 tablespoon Vegetable oil or bacon fat 1 pinch Onion or garlic powder 1 teaspoon Salt 1/2 cup Cold water 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil to grease pan 1 tablespoon bone meal ½ cup rolled oats ½ cup parsley (if fresh alfalfa is available it is much better for the dog) ½ tablespoon gelatin (optional) Mix all ingredients well. Pinch off pieces of the dough and roll them into one-inch balls. Bake biscuits at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. Let them cool, then store in an airtight container. Doggie Num-Nums 4 4-ounce raw chicken breasts, bone and skin removed ½ cup cheese of your choice ½ cup raw chicken liver Pulse all ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Do not over-mix. • • • Put 1 cup rolled oats in a large bowl. Using 1 tablespoon of the mix at a time, put into oats and roll into balls. Lay each ball flat on a cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 20 minutes or until firm. Remove and let cool. Add peanut butter, milk, eggs and applesauce. Mix well until dough is firm. Let stand for 15-20 minutes. While waiting, set oven at 350 degrees. Roll out dough on floured surface to a 1/4" thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutter. Baste with egg and then sprinkle with seeds (if desired). Bake 30 to 40 minutes. Cool on wire racks. Makes approximately 4 dozen biscuits, depending on the size you cut them. Banana Bites 3 cups rolled oats (don't use quick cooking oatmeal) 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 eggs 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup honey 1/2 milk 2 bananas, mashed Preheat Oven to 325 degrees and grease a 9.5 x 14 baking pan Combine oil, honey, milk, eggs and bananas in a large bowl and mix well. Add dry ingredients in 3 intervals mixing lightly each time to incorporate. Spread mixture in pan and bake for about 25 minutes. Allow to cool and cut into 1/4" squares. Favorite Yorkie Yummies 1 3/4 cups high quality, canned dog food (2 16 oz. cans) 1 cup unprocessed bran 1 cup old fashioned oatmeal 1/2 Cup flaxseed oil Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. In a medium bowl mash the dog food and remove all lumps. Mix in the bran and oatmeal. Slowly add the oil, mixing to a consistency that is easy to mold into patties or roll and cut into bone shapes. Add more oil if the mixture is too dry. Arrange biscuits on and un-greased baking sheet and bake for 3 1/2 hours, or until hard. cool; store in a covered canister. If refrigerated, the treats will keep for about 1 month. Makes 16 medium size biscuits or 32 Yorkie-sized yummies. www.YorkieYummies.com Delish Yorkie Dog Biscuit Recipes page 6 of 7 Homemade Gourmet Dog Treats 3 1/4 cups unbleached flour 2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup Rye flour 2 cups bulgar (cracked wheat) 1 cup cornmeal 1. Turn oven on to 300 degrees. Mix the first 7 ingredients with a wooden spoon in a large bowl. 1/2 cup instant nonfat dry milk 4 tsp salt 1 envelope active dry yeast ( or 2 1/4 teaspoons) 1/4 cup warm water 3 cups chicken broth 1 egg slightly beaten with 1 tsp of milk 2. Dissolve yeast thoroughly in warm water (110 - 115 degrees) in glass measuring cup. Add to dry ingredients. 3. Add chicken broth to flower mixture. Stir until dough forms. 4. Roll our dough until it is 1/4 inch thick. Cut out bone shapes from dough. Place on greased cookie sheets. 5. Brush dough with egg glaze. 6. Bake bones for 45 minutes. Turn oven off. Biscuits should remain overnight to harden. Makes 30 large bones. Marc Morrone's Recipe FLEA HATERS' DOG BISCUITS Makes about 5 dozen bone biscuits 1 cup flour 1/4 cup wheat germ 1/4 cup brewer's yeast (available at health-food stores) 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil 1 clove garlic, chopped medium 1/2 cup chicken stock plus 3 tablespoons for basting 1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Mix flour, wheat germ, brewer's yeast, and salt together in a medium bowl. In a mixing bowl, combine oil and garlic. Alternately add 1/2 cup chicken stock and flour mixture in 3 parts; mix until well combined. Knead about 2 minutes by hand on floured surface; dough will be sticky. 2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out about 3/8 inch thick. Cut out bone shapes; place on prepared baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes, rotate baking sheet, and baste with remaining 3 tablespoons chicken stock. Bake 10 minutes longer. Turn off oven, leaving oven door closed. Leave pan in oven for 1 1/2 hours longer.
