President's Message
As we mentioned in January’s message Whirl and Twirl has been honored for our participation in the
Longwood Christmas parade. As
Presidents, we were invited to
attend the Longwood City Council meeting on February 2
and there we were presented with the Second Place Award
Certificate in the Float Category.
Also, at the Florida Winter Festival we were presented with
a $200.00 check to Whirl & Twirl and a Certificate of Award
from Grand Square for having the most in-state
pre-registrations for the 2016 Florida Winter Festival.
Thank you all who helped Whirl & Twirl to achieve these
honors. We have framed both Certificates and they are on
display in the balcony.
Whit is continuing to teach Plus calls during his Wednesday
workshops and they are well attended and well received.
He is updating the schedule of the calls being taught as it
changes and the current schedule is available on our
website as well as printed copies at the club.

You won’t want to miss this fun depiction
of life in the Klondike during the
Alaskan Gold Rush.
At our February board meeting, the board created a
Mission Statement for our club caller to make the dances
more fun and enjoyable for everyone. “The board
represents the club as a whole. The dances should be fun,
stimulating evenings with a variety of creative sequences

and speeds. Please work to enhance our dances.” Whit

says he agrees completely with the statement and
welcomes such input from the board. He is working hard to

satisfy the dance preferences of all our members .
There are three big events in March you do not want to
miss. Our Mystery Dinner Theater will be Saturday March
7 at 6:00 pm. This is one of our major fundraisers – everyone, even the actors, must purchase tickets. On Sunday
March 15 we are having a special dance with Imperial
Records Recording Artist Larry Belcher. Our next event is
our annual TAW Appreciation Dinner on Sunday March 29.
After the dinner we are adding a brand new event – a
BAKE AUCTION! Come prepared to bid on some delicious
baked items that you can take home and enjoy. After the
auction there will be interesting dancing to our own amateur
callers. You will not want to miss any of the fun!

Dixie Squares on March 12th. They dance
at 4790 S Ridgewood Ave. in Port Orange.
