WELCOME!
OUR WEEKLY GATHERING to offer praise and thanks to God is
the central event of our life together, and we are happy that you have
come to take part in it! Guests are invited to fill out a visitor’s card and
place it in the offering plate.
FIRST-TIME VISITOR? Or, would someone for whom you are
asking prayer this morning like a gift to remind that he or she was
remembered here at worship? Please take a peace candle with you as
you depart. The candles are in small bags which hang from the “apple”
shelf in the elevator lobby at the southeast entrance to our worship
space. ENLARGED PRINT copies of the liturgy, lessons, and hymns
are available at each entranceway. Ask any usher for assistance.
PRAYER CONCERNS include Dan Miller, at Firelands; Drew
Killingsworth and Norm Stierhoff, recuperating at home; Linda Gantz,
continuing therapy; the ministry of the Sandusky Churches Adopt-aSchool Program, and our role in it; the people of Grace, Castalia, and
their pastor, Kathleen Suggitt. PLEASE ADD YOUR PETITION of
need or thanksgiving for yourself, your family, or others to today’s
prayers by completing a blue “Prayer Concern” card found in the pew
and giving it to Pastor Gardner when asked.
We, the People of Trinity, Are Missionaries and

in Christ Jesus”
but, what does this mean?
Let’s Talk!
Winter Annual
Congregational Meeting
TODAY!
2:00 pm
Get the latest on what’s happening in ministry and mission.
Join in conversation over such things as whether Trinity
should join other Lutheran congregations in celebrating
Holy Communion weekly and how we should best decide if
worship should be cancelled due to weather and road
conditions. And, take the opportunity to meet our new
office secretary, Carol Dahs.
If you are able, bring a cherry dessert to share in celebration of
Washington’s Birthday!
OUR LENTEN WEDNESDAYS are designed to give something for
everyone, families included. A light meal will be served at 6:00 pm,
and at 6:35, adults and youth will engage in the conversation Presiding
Bishop Elizabeth Eaton has asked us to hold on the nature and purpose
of the Church. At this same time, children will have their own Lenten
activities based on our Sunday Lenten theme: “The Radical Road to the
Cross.” Then, the evening concludes with worship in the sanctuary
from 7:30 to 8:00 pm. (Our Senior Choir will rehearse afterward.) It’s
a different schedule, but for good reason...a chance for us to talk about
who we are and why we are here. Please join in!
VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED for one Lenten Wednesday
and for Maundy Thursday to prepare meals for those attending worship.
Food costs are reimbursed; what we need are folks with the time to
prepare and serve these light meals. The Congregational Life Team’s
Lenten meal sign-up sheet on the bulletin board right outside the
sanctuary. Thanks for helping.
SANDUSKY LUTHERANS IN MISSION has created a Lenten
devotional booklet with daily meditations written by members of
SALM congregations, including Trinity. We've printed some copies,
and placed them at each door. If we've run out, and you would like one,
ask Carol in the church office to prepare a copy for you.
TODAY’S THE DAY TO DO SOMETHING about that sweet tooth!
Venice Heights Elementary School is selling “World’s Finest
Chocolates,” but we need your order and payment TODAY! This is
Easter candy, and each item is $6.00.
There’s an order form on a table in front of
the Adopt-a-School Bulletin Board.
Simply write your name and check what
you would like to order. Money for your
order can be paid to either Susanne Lemert
or Cindy Norman. Thanks!
THE ADOPT-A-SCHOOL MISSION TEAM will once again be
participating in the Back-to-School Rally in August. The team is
planning ahead for one of the craft activities.
We're asking
congregation members to give us your clean, label free metal cans. The
team could use the following cans; 10 1/2 oz. condensed soup cans or
15 oz. fruit or vegetable cans. The metal cans may be placed in the
yellow box labeled "Soup Cans" in the upper hallway of the educational
wing by our Adopt-a-School Bulletin Board. Cans will be collected
through March. Thank You.
THE ADOPT-A-SCHOOL MISSION TEAM will be meeting on
Thursday, Feb. 26th at 6:30 p.m. in the church Fellowship hall.
YEAR-END FINANCIAL STATEMENTS are available outside the
church office. Should you have any concerns regarding your statement,
let the church office know.
DO LUNCH OR DINNER AT APPLEBEE’S this Thursday, and you
can help youth at Zion, Huron, attend the Churchwide Youth Gathering
in Detroit this summer. Find the sheet you need to take with you
elsewhere in this morning’s bulletin.
SPACES REMAIN on the 2015 flower and bulletin chart. Sign up
today to share your celebrations and remembrances with your sisters
and brothers in Christ Jesus!

Confession and Forgiveness
ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Mills at Perkins, Sandusky, will
host its monthly “Welcome Table” meal today from noon to 1:30 pm.
It’s a free meal for anyone who would like one. All are invited.
Beloved in the Lord: let us draw near with a true heart, and
confess our sins to God our Father, imploring him in the name
of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.
Blessing
Silence for reflection and self-examination.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
And you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Almighty God, merciful Father:
I, a troubled and penitent sinner, confess to you all my
sins and iniquities with which I have offended you and for
which I justly deserve your punishment. But I am sorry for
them, and repent of them, and pray for your boundless
mercy. For the sake of the suffering and death of your
Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a poor
sinful being; forgive my sins, give me your Holy Spirit for
the amendment of my sinful life, and bring me to life
everlasting. Amen.
In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for
us, and, for his sake, God forgives us all our sins. To those
who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the
children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit. Grant
this, O Lord, unto us all.
Amen.

Prayers
Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
6
forever and ever. Amen.
Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9"As for me,
I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants
after you, 10and with every living creature that is with you, the
birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth with
you, as many as came out of the ark. 11I establish my covenant
with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters
of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the
earth." 12God said, "This is the sign of the covenant that I make
between me and you and every living creature that is with you,
for all future generations: 13I have set my bow in the clouds,
and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the
earth. 14When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is
seen in the clouds, 15I will remember my covenant that is
between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and
the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16
When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the
everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of
all flesh that is on the earth." 17God said to Noah, "This is the
sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all
flesh that is on the earth."
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm 25:1-10
1
To you, O LORD,
I lift up my soul.
2
My God, I put my trust in you; let me not be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3
Let none who look to you be put to shame;
rather let those be put to shame who are treacherous.
4
Show me your ways, O LORD,
and teach me your paths.
5
Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
in you have I trusted all the day long.
6
Remember, O LORD, your compassion and love,
3
for they are from everlasting.
7
Remember not the sins of my youth and my transgressions;
remember me according to your steadfast love
and for the sake of your goodness, O LORD.
8
You are gracious and upright, O LORD;
therefore you teach sinners in your way.
9
You lead the lowly in justice
and teach the lowly your way.
10
All your paths, O LORD, are steadfast love and
faithfulness to those who keep your covenant and
your testimonies.
Second Lesson 1 Peter 3:18-22
18
For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for
the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God. He was put to
death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit, 19in which also
he went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison, 20who
in former times did not obey, when God waited patiently in the
days of Noah, during the building of the ark, in which a few, that
is, eight persons, were saved through water. 21And baptism,
which this prefigured, now saves you — not as a removal of dirt
from the body, but as an appeal to God for a good conscience,
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22who has gone into
heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities,
and powers made subject to him.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation
The gospel is announced, and we respond:
Glory to you, O Lord.
Gospel Mark 1:9-15
9
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was
baptized by John in the Jordan. 10And just as he was coming
up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the
Spirit descending like a dove on him. 11And a voice came from
heaven, "You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well
pleased."
12
And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the
wilderness. 13He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by
Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited
on him.
14
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came to Galilee,
proclaiming the good news of God, 15and saying, "The time is
fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near, repent, and
believe in the good news."
The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, O Christ.

Sermon
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
