Bereaved family members, seriously injured survivors and official guests take their places in allocated areas. 12 NOON MIHI WHAKATAU Ngāi Tūāhuriri, Ngāi Tahu’s principle hapū (sub tribe) in this region, will open the service with prayers of thanksgiving followed by words of welcome. This process of welcome is called a Mihi Whakatau.
