Dear Doctors,
A specialty of healthcare which is probably amongst the most transformative is the field of
Orthopaedics. At the very core of this specialty is a priceless gift – a better quality of life as be it pain
alleviation or giving someone their independence back, everyday magical things are made
possible by cutting-edge Orthopaedics.
However, even in the face of all this monumental work it is unfortunate that the global injury
burden is severely underappreciated by health communities across the world. Orthopaedic
injuries and disease account for as such as 14% of the world’s DALYs (Disability Adjusted Life
Years) lost and 9% of the world’s mortality. Timely access to appropriate and quality orthopaedic
care can prevent death, and disability associated with the injuries.
Apollo Hospitals has been a pioneer in establishing excellence in Orthopaedic care in India. The
focus to improve and deliver more advanced care continues unabated.
