An overview of the Honors and Advanced Placement program at our school is provided. Topics discussed will
include the excellent AP Exam test scores and the difference between Honors and AP classes. After attending this
overview, attendees will be invited to visit with specific AP subject showcases.
English teachers will share information about the English program, including the distinction between Honors and
College Prep English, electives, and the senior elective Senior Seminar.

College Readiness is a program designed to help students reach their college aspirations. Come learn about all
levels of College Readiness, partnered with the national AVID Center, with courses from AVID I to AVID Senior
Seminar.
Exploring Computer Science, Web Design, and AP Computer Science classes are the core sequence for our
Computer Science Essential program at LCCHS. Learn more about this presentation and how it will help your
student learn the requisite career skills that will transfer to higher learning opportunities and private sector
careers. The Business Program at LCC includes classes from Marketing, to Business Math, and is growing includes
opportunities for Business Internship.

Find out all about the Culinary Arts program at LCC.
In the upper level of the gymnasium you will find the LCC dance studio, where students participate in an active
Dance program, part of The La Costa Canyon School of the Arts. Learn about all levels and styles of dance at LCC.
The LCC Engineering Academy is offered in conjunction with the national Project Lead The Way program and is
part of the leading high school engineering courses in the United States. Learn more about LCC’s award winning
Engineering program, see examples of the work students create, and the hands on activities they participate in in
each level of Engineering.
The ACE Mentorship program for many North SD County schools is hosted by the LCC Engineering Academy, under
the leadership of Lead Teacher, Debbie Elliott. Students in this program work with industry professionals (many
from Qualcomm) to compete in projects and competitions designed to further their exploration of key career
growth areas.
ISOL (Independent Study Online Learning) offers LCC students an opportunity to accelerate their education, take
more electives, and have more flexibility in their schedule. Find out more about this program and whether taking

The Maverick Brigade, LCC’s world famous marching band, highlights our musical offerings, which also include Jazz
Band, Symphonic Band, Percussion, and Guitar. All are part of The La Costa Canyon School of the Arts.
Drama, Set Design, Comedy Sportz, Improvisation, and Script Writing are all options in LCC’s vibrant Theater
program, part of The La Costa Canyon School of the Arts.
Physical Education at LCC offers a wide selection of classes, from Yoga to Dance, Weight Lifting, Year One and Year
Two PE, and more. Learn more at this session about both PE and Health.
Visit room 600 first and get an overview of the robust Science program at LCC, then break out into one (or more)
of the seven rooms with more information on a specific branch of science. This is also where families can learn
more about our new Biomedical Science program, offered in conjunction with national STEM leader, Project Lead
The Way.
Anatomy and Physiology offers students an exciting active learning opportunity that prepares them for science
beyond LCC. Learn more about this popular science elective.

Biology is the most common 9 grade science course. This session will provide information about the class. AP
Biology challenges students to push themselves to learn more about the study of life and living things. (Includes
information about Project Lead The Way Biomedical Science).

Learn more about the most common 10 grade science course, Chemistry, and AP Chemistry, a rigorous option
chosen by many LCC science students.
Learn more about all levels of physics at LCC, including AP Physics. We are proud to provide AP Physics 1 and the
more advanced option of AP Physics C: Mechanical Physics.
Learn more about the many academically rigorous and successful Social Science classes offered at LCC, including
Psychology, World History, US History, Economics, Government, Current Issues, and more.

Successful lawyers, politicians, and business leaders have had their start in Speech and Debate. Our nationally
ranked program is a powerful force at LCC. This session provides an introduction to Maverick Speech and Debate,
and can help answer questions about how students can get involved.
Student Life is a major component of the LCC experience. While what happens in classrooms is our first priority,
life outside of class helps shape the four years Maverick students spend together. Join our Associated Student
Body students at this celebration of Maverick life!
Who says LCC isn’t a “surf school?” Surfing is a part of many LCC students’ lives, and part of their education too!
Learn more about LCC’s Surf Lifesaving class, and hear about the many students who start their day at the beach.
Come to “Studio 904” to see our LCC TV production studio and learn more about TV Production, including our daily
“LCC TV” news program. Students in this program are able to continue with Advanced TV Production in their
second year of the program.
Our La Costa Canyon School of the Arts offers beginning and Advanced Placement opportunities in drawing,
painting, and sculpture. Come learn more about the many ways students express their creativity visually in the
three open studios. Come learn about exciting new offerings in VPA, including Fashion Design and the CTE
Course, Shaping.
Maverick filmmakers prowl campus with cameras, writing, directing, and acting in films and learning the movie
making process. (sessions 1, and 2 only)
Come to our fun-filled, presentation to learn what our classes are like from students and teachers of our unique
and engaging language programs: including ASL, French, Mandarin and Spanish.
