The BIAK BRAIN WALK’nTALK: We Care About Brains!
Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky [BIAK]
The Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky serves Kentuckians whose lives have been affected by brain
injury, tumors and strokes.
Your participation is this year’s event BIAK BRAIN WALK’NTALK helps BIAK continue to serve
survivors, family members, students, caregivers, administrators, health professionals, legislators, the
lay community and all those who desire to make a difference in the life of individuals with brain injuries
and their families.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 9 , 2015 at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park.
Registration begins at 8:30AM. The Walk begins at 10AM.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies, organizations, individuals and groups. Each
sponsorship level will support BIAK’s mission and the Kentuckians we serve as well as provide
community-wide visibility for the sponsor.

Meet Trayton James
When our son, T.J., was born in 2002, we assumed that he would have a
normal life of play, school, sports, marriage and children. That dream died on
April 20, 2010. When what started out as an afternoon of after school fun
ended in tragedy when T.J.’s bike ran into the back of his brother’s bike.
He flipped over the handle bars and would not wake up. He would go on to
spend sixty-one days in the hospital and rehabilitation. The story still
continues with T.J. undergoing rehabilitation to relearn to walk and talk.
He has yet to return to school and our dreams of a normal childhood are over.
Sadly, we believe that had we known about the need of bicycle helmets this
may not have happened. We didn’t think helmets were necessary; after all,
we never wore them when we were kids. We deeply appreciate the support
we received through BIAK and are committed to making sure that other
families are spared the experience that we had.
Your support will help BIAK lobby for better ways to protect Kentucky’s children and continue to
support families that are affected by brain injury. The only cure for brain injury is prevention.
