Fishing is slow because of the cold causing pressure and lack of bites. Lake is snow covered making travel good for snowmobiles but not so good for 4 wheelers

LAKE COUCHICHING & LAKE SIMCOE (north end)
LAKE COUCHICHING AND LAKE SIMCOE (NORTH END) OVERVIEW: by John Whyte Lake Simcoe Message Board
www.lakesimcoemessageboard.com
Lake Couchiching - Fishing remains slow but an early morning and late bite in deeper water has produced some nice perch this week. The snow is packed down on 24 inches of ice so the walking is good.
Kempenfelt Bay - The whitefish fishing has picked up this week. Trout action is a little slow. The herring fishing close to Barrie has been very good but the perch fishing is still slow.
North Simcoe - The fishing in general has been very slow.
Middle Lake - The high winds this week has restricted travel so the middle grounds has not seen a lot of action. Those that did venture out have seen good whitefish action but the trout fishing has been slow.

BAY OF QUINTE - from Trenton to Picton, Brighton Bay and Wellers Bay

COMMENTS -Wellers bay: 18", Brighton bay: 18", Trenton onderdonks: 18", Trenton bain park: 18", Bayside: 14", Potters creek: 16", Petes point: 12", Big bay: 18", Point Anne: 16", Deseronto: 6"-12, Long reach: 5"-12 Surface
conditions are snow covered. Traveling by snowmobile is ideal. Average depth of snow is 14" with many snow drifts 16"-36" deep. Atv travel is impossible now. Walking is very difficult. Lots of pressure cracks and with all the snow it is
insulating the water that comes up and unable to freeze so it's making it very slushy. Use caution around areas with high current and narrow passages and bridges. Example: mouth of Trent, bay bridge, deseronto bridge, massassauga
narrows. Walleye, Perch and Pike being caught but Fishing is slow "poor". Permanent huts have to be off Sunday March 1st and walleye closes this date aswell in zone 20.

Glenn Millar 613 848-9302
COMMENTS - For those who have braved the cold & wind this week fishing is picking up in Zone 20 but Bay of Quinte has lots of slush & ice pushed up on shore .This is the last weekend for Walleye in Zone 20 & 17 & 18 ends at
11:59 pm March 1st . All ice huts must be off the ice in Zones 17 & 20 by 11:59 pm March 1st. Ice Hut removal March 15 at 11:59 pm in Zone 18 All ice conditions are good but lots of slush along shorelines & near pressure cracks. 12
to 24 inches snow in most places & lots of drifting. Pike Perch & Walleye have been a little difficult but for those who have gone out have produced some record catches.****Note Caution - soon the Conservation and Lower Trent and
Moira will be releasing a lot of water in the river systems & this will break up the ice fast as of today still good **** Wellers Bay has been producing some great Walleye 7 Jumbo Perch as well as Brighton Bay easy access to these
areas East & West lake also as well & some nice perch.
