The public comment period has been extended until March 23, 2015, due to the omission of road numbers on the roads that are being closed. It’s very important that all of us check our favorite collecting sites to confirm all roads used to get to them remain open. If a road you want to keep is marked for closure, write a comment stating the road number and the material you collect there. Email or snail-mail must be in by March 23 to be considered. Click on this link to the BLM Website for further information and contacts: http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/info/newsroom/2015/feb ruary/laposa-extend.html Poem By Louise Rigby On Tuesday’s field trip with our friend we did go, It was time for the cookout with good food you know. A few left to go early to set up real neat, So the rest of us brought out lots of good things to eat. Some hunted for rocks with a bucket and hammer, While some of us sat in our chairs just to yammer. The breeze in the desert real softly did blow, Just enough to give comfort with the bright sunshine’s glow. The friends and club members their knowledge they did share, So we’d bring home some gems and leave the leverets there. Hot dogs and burgers they cooked up a plenty, Leftovers went home ‘cause they grilled up so many. Salads, chips, and desserts were set out on the table, You could fill up your plates with as much as we were able. We filled up our tummies with food that was neat, Then finished with cake, cookies, and brownies so sweet. We packed up and cleaned up as clean as can be, So the next one to come no garbage would they see. Tummies full, good rocks found, but I heard someone say, “I’m going home for a nap for the rest of the day.” HIGHWAY CLEANUP March 14, 2015, Saturday, 9:00am Highway Cleanup at Milepost 99.
