Setting the Context Jerusalem → Galilee → Journey to Jerusalem (Luke 9:51) → Jerusalem (Jesus’ death/resurrection; Disciples’ commission/ Spirit baptism) → Judea → Samaria → Ends of the Earth The first thing Jesus does is to send His disciples into __________________ territory. 2. Jesus Sends By sending seventy or seventy-two “others,” Jesus makes plain that working for the Lord is not the duty of an elite group of apostles (the “twelve”) but is an expectation for ____________ disciple. 3. Jesus Instructs Two observations: 1) Jesus isn’t assigning “______________-____________” projects: There is legitimate work to be done. 2) It’s _________________ field. 4. Jesus Warns The reward is helping prepare followers of Christ to work faithfully in His ___________________. The risk is failing to recognize that the Lord’s harvest field is controlled by an __________________. It is good to have you with us on this the first Sunday of March, which happens to be our monthly, "World Missions Emphasis Sunday". At the core of who we are and what we do as a church is the proclamation of the Gospel and the making of disciples. Certainly these two priorities are expressed in many different ways both here at home and in many different parts of the world. It is through your faithful missionary giving, both designated and undesignated, that such a variety of global partnerships continue to thrive for Calvary Temple and God's Kingdom around the world. Today it is a great privilege to have Dr. Jeromey Martini with us, who is the president of our Horizon College in Saskatoon. He always has something very thoughtful to share from the word of God and he will also bring greetings from the college and give us a brief update on how we are doing in the training of future leaders. I will be beginning a new series of messages next Sunday as we move towards the celebration of Easter in just a few short weeks. This past Monday evening, our Annual General Meeting was held here in the sanctuary. I want to share with you that Cathy Doerksen, Warren Hart and Rob McKelvey were elected to serve for three years on the official church board. They will be serving alongside the following individuals; Ken Alder, Ken Hiebert, Jason Kuffner, Ronald Lemky, Lorne Plett, Tim Sturby, Steve Watts and Kelly Wiebe, who are in the midst of serving three year terms on our leadership team. I would like to thank David Bardal and Rick Bowering for completing six years of service. There is also the matter of gratefully acknowledging the part that Nola Bowering, Shoaib Ebadi, Paul Kambas and Phillip Charles played in allowing their names to stand for consideration. We are grateful to God for His sense of peace and blessing on the meeting. Tonight in the Buntain Chapel at 6:00 p.m., I will be sharing the message, continuing on in my Sunday evening series on Elijah. See you there. Please remember to put your clock forward next Sunday, March 8th. “Spring Forward!” Sincerely Pastor Bruce and Miriam Calvary Temple Church | 400 Hargrave St. | Winnipeg | MB | R3B 3A8 PH: 204-943-4551 ∙ FAX: 204-943-6720 ∙ www.ctwinnipeg.com GENERAL OFFICE E-MAIL: [email protected] YOUR MINISTRY LEADERSHIP TEAM Bruce Martin ext 227 - [email protected] Lead Pastor Jared Clarke ext 242 - [email protected] Director of Church Ministries Glen Hiebert ext 233 - [email protected] Properties Manager Betty Campbell ext 224 - [email protected] Office and Hospitality Manager Cher Paulson ext 241 - [email protected] Discipleship Pastor Marlowe Hiebert ext 229 - [email protected] Creative, Child & Family Pastor Bruce Logan ext 230 - [email protected] Minister of Pastoral Care Richard Hale ext 225 - [email protected] Minister of Music James Okot ext 228 - [email protected] Ethnic Ministries Pastor Calvary deJong ext 231 - [email protected] Young Adult Pastor Phil Hazzard ext 232 - [email protected] Youth Pastor Kailey Knapp ext 234 - [email protected] GodZone Director Barbara Easter [email protected] Deaf Fellowship Pastor Marietta Seargeant [email protected] Pastoral Care Assistant John Salumu-Kasongo ext 238 - [email protected] French Fellowship Pastor March 1|2015|9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Preparing Christian Leaders Luke 10:1-3, 17-20 Dr. Jeromey Martini Horizon College President Contact our PRAYER CHAIN Call Marion Archer-Seib 204-452-7308 or Cely Tiburcio 204-633-2742 (Please leave a message if necessary) Like us on Facebook: Calvary Temple Winnipeg Follow us on Twitter: @ctwinnipeg Elijah: The Prophet of Courage and Confrontation - Part 9 Calvary Temple Library 2nd Floor (Mezzanine) Sanctuary Building Sunday: 9:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Wednesday: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Download our app for Android and iPhone devices Calvary Temple Classified Bulletin Board Available for you to post your personal ads.
