THEME NOTE :
The population growth, resource depletion, and environmental
degradation have been the matter of concern and therefore of
debate in the last few decades. Asia includes around 56 percent of
the earth's population, depending on only 31 percent of the
planet's arable land and India embraces16 percent of the world
population with 2.4 percent of its land area. It continuously
increases pressure on natural resources. In recent decades,
researchers and policy-makers have increasingly emphasized the
importance of the complex relationships between food, energy
and water (also called the FEW nexus) that is often overlooked in
narrowly focused assessments, investments and policies. While
the interconnected nature of FEW has been recognized and
supported by a number of examples around the globe, there is a
relatively limited understanding of how to tackle these complex
relationships when conducting assessments and charting out
action plans for meeting the needs.
Children's Science Congress
Children's Science Congress
will be held on this occasion.
Selected child scientists of
Rajasthan which have
participated in the National
Children's Science Congress
and Science fair organized by
SIERT will perform their
exhibits here. Other child scientists of the state will be given the
opportunity to demonstrate their scientific talent along with them.
Mega Science Exhibition
One of the major attractions of the Rajasthan Science Congress is
Mega Science Exhibition. The renowned scientific organisation
of the country like ICAR, ICMR, DAE and others will showcase
their achievements in this exhibition.
State Level Science Communicators' Meet
For this program we are inspired by the National Science
communicators' meet, which is a
regular feature of the Indian
Science Congress. On this occasion
we provide a platform to the science
communicators, journalists, public
relation personals, journalism
teachers, students and researchers
which are working in the state. This
program is catalyzed NCSTC, DST
Government of India.
Origin and development of the Rajasthan Science Congress
In order to the social concerns of the
'Vaigyanik Drishtikon' we established the
Rajasthan Science Congress under the
auspices of the Vaigyanik Drishtikon
Society. It was the dream of the scientific
community of Rajasthan. The manifesto of

Universities of the state on May 1, 2012. We organized the first
session of the Rajasthan Science Congress at the time of the 100th
session of the Indian Science Congress. Two successful events
have been concluded of the RSC. The first session was organized
at Tagore International School and Deepsmriti Auditorium,
Jaipur and the second session organized at Dr. K. N. Modi

National Science Day
As we all know that the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra
Modi is very keen to promote science and scientists in India. He
has often expressed his commitment on several occasions. In the
short span of his tenure he spent hours with scientists, including at
the time of the visits to BARC, Mars Orbiter Mission launched by
ISRO and in the Indian Science Congress at Mumbai. He recently
directed that the birthdays of the great Indian scientists and the
scientific Days should be celebrated with great fanfare.

MANIPAL UNIVERSITY, JAIPUR
VAIGYANIK DRISHTIKON SOCIETY
Manipal in Education is a name to reckon with not just in
India, but the world over. The seeds of its magnificent growth were sown
back in 1953 by Padam Shree Late Dr. T.M.A. Pai with the setting up of
the flagship Kasturba Medical College. Today, Manipal has emerged as a
leading Higher Education provider in India under the leadership of
Padam Bhushan Dr. Ram Das Pai. Manipal Global Education Services
has taken education far and wide without compromising on the quality to
make strong headway to nurture an ecosystem of teaching and research
and established its campuses in Bangalore, Mangalore, Dubai, Malaysia,
Nepal, Sikkim, Antigua in the Caribbean Island. The two big names Mr
SatyaNadella CEO Microsoft and Mr Rajeev SuriCEO Nokia have
made Manipal proud being its alumnis.
In response to an invitation from the Govt. of Rajasthan, the
Manipal Group started a new venture in Rajasthan by establishing a
multidisciplinary private university in Jaipur. Thus, Manipal University
Jaipur (MUJ) is the youngest member of the Manipal Education family.
Due to its wide spectrum of academic and research
programmescoveringalmost all the different disciplines, imposing high
quality infrastructure, excellent faculty committed to achieve
excellence, Manipal University Jaipur has already established itself as a
premier university. It is recognized as one of the fastest growing
institutes in the Northern India. In addition to two Centres of Excellence
in Built Environment and on Research in Nanomaterials, there are over
a dozen research laboratories engaged in latest fields of basic Science
and Technology. MUJ has received GRIHA 2013 Award for exemplary
demonstration of integrated water management and LEEDS Platinum
Certificate based on its Green building design and onsite execution with
five million safe construction hours. This is the first recognition in the
country for the university campus of this size.
Aligning to the commitment of GOI for promoting Science
Education, Manipal University Jaipur successfully organized a five
days INSPIRE Camp sponsored by Department of Science and
Technology, Government of India from July 21-25, 2014. The camp was
attended by around 150 students of various schools from all over
Rajasthan state.
It is well-established practice that science is better learned by
doing and technology is perfected by putting it in to practice. The learning
of science as exploratory and enquiry based enterprise has not taken deep
roots in educational structures and classrooms. There exist wide gaps
between the objectives of students, teachers, parents, societies and
governments regarding science, technology and mathematics education
and its expected outcomes. We have been working in the field of Science
Communication and Science popularisation for last 15 years from grass
root level to International level. Vaigyanik Drishtikon Society has been
bringing out a fortnightly science newspaper "Vaigyanik Drishtikon" for
more than a decade to disseminate recent scientific knowledge, concepts,
developments and applications in the country. However the above
endeavor has turned out to be useful for students, teachers and all sections
of society interested in every day science. It is the only Science
Newspaper of India. We are committed to give a daily Science
Newspaper to the Nation.
The task of science popularization and communication is
multidimensional and involves several sections of stakeholders. The role
of science communicators is most important in this respect. Vaigyanik
Drishtikon society has under taken several activities for the fulfillment
including the training. Now VDS became the member of NCSTCNetwork.
11th PCST- After a grand success of spectacular and exhaustive
event at PCST-2010, a two days post conference workshop was
conducted at jaipur under the auspicious of VDS, Followed by a
recreational tour of pink city, Jaipur and Taj city, Agra. The post
conference workshop covered the topic “Bringing Scientist & Media
together for Better Science Communication” at the venue, OTS jaipur,
where the eminent national and international scientists, Science
communicators and journalists expressed their views with an interactive
session.
We are doing many other works like Science Communication
training workshops, daily newsletters publication etc.
