Program Description The Northern Ontario History of Health and Medicine Group links students, faculty, researchers, practitioners, and interested individuals from across the North and a range of disciplines/professions. The sessions provide an opportunity for people to share and discuss cutting-edge research in the history of medicine (broadly defined). At each session, a speaker will present his/her current research and respond to group discussion. This series promotes research, community engagement, and interactivity within the communities of Northern Ontario and amongst different health professions and academic disciplines. Objectives By the end of the program, participants will be able to: • • • Discuss and assess research methods in the history of global health and medicine. Demonstrate their knowlege of the history of global health in the late 20th century. Discuss and develop a wider critical perspective on the history of medicine and healing in the 20th century that can help inform their perspectives on issues related to practice and relevant public debates.
