Now for sure, here in the 5th cry of Jesus from Skull Hill, we see something of Jesus’ humanity. But I would offer there is something of far greater significance happening if we will dig a little deeper beneath the surface. March 1, 2015 Ladi Aregbesola Tammy Engel Wes Mueller Gord Neufeld Stephen Norsworthy Pat Noschese Menno Sawatsky Jules Selymes I’d like to introduce you to Dawn Barrett [RN, BN, GNC(C), CRN(C)], a member of Immanuel, and to a new venture we are calling ‘Hands Helping Hands’. Dawn is a graduate from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She has worked at St. Boniface Hospital in Oncology and Nephrology and these days works at Riverview Health Centre as both a unit nurse and on occasion, a Facility Manager. Dawn’s experience at Riverview is broad: Palliative Care, Rehab, Respiratory, Alzheimer’s, Stroke, Brain injury, and long term care. Dawn has also worked at the Simkin Centre as the Facility Manager for a number of years. Dawn is certified to work both in Canada and the States. She is also a national certified Gerontology Nurse, Rehabilitation Nurse and a certified Continence Advisor and presently works at Riverview as a Clinical Resource Nurse in a Neuromuscular, Out Patient Stroke & Brain Injury and EMG Clinic. Through this new ministry effort, which we are calling ‘Hands Helping Hands’, Dawn is willing to make herself available once a week for 2-3 hours after work on a Thursday to our seniors to wash and care for feet, prepare a meal, go shopping, and advise on how to navigate our health care system if you have a particular problem and are not quite sure where to turn. If this is something you would like to take advantage of, simply contact the church office and schedule a time. Hands Helping Hands is for you and I encourage you to take advantage of this service.
