Roldan and DOJ Assistant Secretary Zabedin M. Azis, explains to members of tri-media the nature and significance of the three (3) tax cases filed by the BIR under the Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) Program during the Bureau’s regular press briefing conducted on February 26, 2015 at the Office of USEC Francisco Baraan. CAMP JOHN HAY LEISURE, INC. (CJHL, INC.), together with its President ALBERTO Q. AVANCEÑA and Financial Controllers RIALENA E. MAGAT and RODEEN A. CORPUZ, was charged with tax evasion with a civil liability of P 88.54 Million after the BIR discovered from documents gathered from the BIR’s Information Systems Development and Operation Service (ISDOS) and from Camp John Hay Hotel Corporation that CJHL, INC. had a gross income of P 34.53 Million in 2006, P 40.92 Million in 2009, P 39.76 Million in 2010 and P 44.52 Million in 2011. The respondent company, however, only declared P 8.95 Million, P 11.60 Million, P 11.33 Million and P 12.65 Million as gross income in its ITRs for taxable years 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011, respectively, thus substantially under-declaring its gross income by 286% or P 25.58 Million in 2006, 253% or P 29.32 Million in 2009, 251% or P 28.43 Million in 2010 and 252% or P 31.87 Million in 2011. Revenue Region No. 8, Makati City filed two separate complaints against two (2) delinquent eFPS taxpayers for their failure to pay expanded/withholding tax on compensation and Value-Added Tax (VAT) after filing the corresponding tax returns online. Charged was WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS, INC. (WIRELESS), together with its President/Chairman EDGARDO L. LIMON. It is engaged in the design, construction, installation, maintenance and service of telecommunication equipment. WIRELESS was sued for deficiency tax liabilities for the period December 31, 2008 to November 30, 2012 amounting to P 59.84 Million. Likewise charged for the same violation was INTEX TELECOM SYSTEMS, INC. (INTEX), together with its President/CEO EDGARDO L. LIMON. It is primarily engaged in telecommunications services. INTEX was sued for deficiency tax liabilities for the period November 30, 2006 to April 30, 2013 amounting to P 107.91 Million. The filing of the three (3) cases brings to three hundred and thirty-six (336) the total number of cases already filed by the BIR under its RATE Program during the administration of Commissioner Henares. “Oplan Kandado” Operation Atty. Cornelio Chito Dela Peña of RR 3-Tuguegarao City, together with OIC-RDO Salvador Lasala and Jocelyn Lora, filed one (1) Regional RATE case last February 25 at the Regional Trail Court in Ilagan, Isabela. eTIS-1 TRS Rollout Asst. Regional Director Jethro Sabriaga of RR 7-Quezon City, together with RDO Florante Aninag of RD 39-South Quezon City, Legal Division OIC-Chief Romel Curiba and other revenuers from RD 39 and Legal Division, temporarily closed last February 24 the main restaurant and branch of 3J Palabok Delight located at Filinvest Road, Batasan Hills and SM City Fairview Food Court in Quezon City, for failure to register as VAT taxpayer and failure to pay the corresponding deficiency VAT estimated at P 1.49 Million for taxable years 2011 to 2013. eTIS-1’s Taxpayer registration System (TRS) function was rolled out last February 23 in RD 4 4 - Ta g u i g / Pateros, headed by OIC-RDO Rodolfo Mendoza. RD Eduardo Pagulayan Jr., conducted their 2015 Tax Campaign Kick-off Program last February 26. RD 4-Calasiao, headed by RDO Renato Molina and OIC-Asst. RDO Charmaine de la Torre, led the Fun Walk (dubbed as “Angat Pa ‘Pinas: Lakad Para sa Patuloy na Pag-Unlad”) along the main thoroughfares going to Dagupan City, the central business district of the province. RR 4 - Pampanga Revenuers of RR 4-Pampanga, led by OIC Conrado Lee, conducted their 2015 Regional Tax Campaign Kick-off last February 20 at the Trade Hall of SM City Pampanga. San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago welcomed the guests and taxpayers and encouraged them to do their share in nation building by helping the BIR in collecting taxes. The event was graced by DCIR Nelson M. Aspe who was the keynote speaker, and Board Member Cris Garbo (representing Governor Lilia G. Pineda) who announced the Province of Pampanga’s donation to RR 4 of one (1) hectare of lot. OIC Lee shared the region’s 2014 accomplishments and 2015 priority programs while OIC-ACIR Marilou Del Rosario presented an audio visual presentation of the BIR’s PAC milestones, plans and rationale of the 2015 tax campaign theme and logo. The tax campaign kick-off was a three-part program with Part 1 ending with the symbolic representation of the “building blocks”, which was participated by BIR officials and taxpayers. Part 2 was the awarding of special prizes and the winner in the Poster Making Contest, which was bagged by a lady student from the Magsaysay Memorial College of Olongapo City. Part 3 was the annual conduct of the TaxGisan ng Galing Contest. The kick-off started with a motorcade around General Santos City followed by a program, which was graced by the OIC-ACIR Marilou del Rosario of Client Support Service who also banged the gong that officially signified the opening of the tax campaign. ARD Baygan welcomed the guests from the different sectors while RD Milabao presented the region’s 2014 collection performance and 2015 goal. The heads and representatives of various sectors, together with the region’s officials and personnel, signified their support to the tax campaign advocacy, “Angat Pa, Pinas!” and the Bureau’s Vision and Mission statements by reciting and signing their Pledge of Support. The event culminated with the ceremonial filing and payment of taxes. RD 16 - Cabarroguis, Quirino RD 16-Cabarroguis, Quirino conducted its 2015 Tax Campaign Kick-off last February 26 at the DEPEd Multi-Purpose Hall in Cabarroguis, Quirino. The event was highlighted by a motorcade and the presentation and unveiling of the 2015 tax campaign theme and logo. OIC-RDO Miguel Morada, Jr. delivered the welcome address while Mr. Reynaldo Galinato, representative of Provincial Governor Junie Cua, delivered an inspirational message.
