COLORADO BASKETBALL
POSTGAME QUOTES
Colorado Buffaloes at Washington State Cougars, Beasley Coliseum, Pullman, Wash. (March 7, 2015)
Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle
General
“We gave this one away. We had the ball with 10 seconds to go, and that jump ball call was big and the
possession arrow goes against us. But, you have to hand it to Washington State. Davante Lacy played like
a senior and hit big shots. They come out in overtime and hit those two threes between Kendrick Drew
and Lacy and you know they made shots and we got behind. They made their free throws down the
stretch; I thought we managed the game well. You need them to miss free throws down the stretch. I
thought our guys competed and played with energy and played with passion. You score 91 points, you’re
supposed to win if your defense is halfway decent and it just wasn’t good enough.”
On Difference In The Game
“We didn’t make enough plays down the stretch. We just needed one more stop or one more shot and we
just weren’t able to get it.”
On Second To Last Possession In Regulation, In-Bounding The Ball
“We wanted to get the ball in Ski’s (senior guard Askia Booker) hands, obviously he’s our best free throw
shooter and they made the play there and we didn’t. The possession arrow went against us. I’ve never
liked the possession arrow, I sure as hell don’t like it today. I just think it lets the referees off the hook,
let’s toss it up like they used to and see who gets the ball like the NBA does. That’s not the way the game
is and you just have to take it and move on. Really disappointed, though, I told our team, their passion
their fight, their desire. The last three games we’ve stepped on the court and we’ve been ready to play.
But we just weren’t good enough tonight, defensively. You score 91 points and you’re supposed to win
those games.”
On Offense Improving
“Our ball movement has been better, we’ve got the ball inside tonight. We shot 51 percent for the game
and shot 60 percent in the second half. We’ve got to finish a little bit better offensively, but defensively
we’ve got to get better. If you look at the top teams in college basketball, it doesn’t matter what league
you’re in, the ones that guard consistently and rebound consistently are the ones that win games. Our
offense has gotten better and we’re going to need to.”
On Entering Pac-12 Tournament In Las Vegas
“It’s a new season, I told our guys, ‘We are 0-0 and we’re going to Las Vegas to beat whoever we’re
playing.’ Honestly, I had no idea, win or lose, what our seed was going to be, it was about trying to win
this game and we came up a little bit short which is disheartening. I hope it can light a fire within our
team because hopefully they’ve been having a little bit of fun the last week or so here. Our offense is
getting better, but it’s anybody’s game. If we can learn anything from our women’s team, it’s a new season
and we have to approach it as such; and if we do, we’ve proven that good things can happen. There’s not a
team in our league I don’t think we can’t beat, I really don’t. But, our season could be over the next game,
we have to play like it.”
