B’nai Mitzvah Tzedakah Fair
Tuesday evening March 10 at 7:30 pm
Beth Torah Synagogue (47 Glenbrook Avenue)
The Canadian Council of Conservative Synagogues (CCCS) will be
sponsoring a Tzedakah Fair geared for present and future B'nai Mitzvah
families. If you are interested in enhancing your child's Bar/Bat
Mitzvah experience, this venue will allow families to explore a variety of
communal organizations within the Jewish Community, and to consider
working with anyone of them regarding an interactive Tikkun Olam or
Mitzvah project.
A number of party vendors, including Bounce Entertainment, Cliq
Photography, Happy Days, Modern Kosher Caterers, and Spirit
Entertainment will be actively participating to advise families on their
respective simcha celebration requirements. Community is welcome!

SHABBAT BETH SHOLOM
SHABBAT KI TISA
Torah Page: 352 | Haftarah Page: 369
Haftarah: Sarah Hennick
RABBI’S SHABBAT MESSAGE
“…and Moses' anger grew hot, and he threw the tablets
out of his hands, and broke them beneath the
mountain…”
No event symbolizes the profound friction that exists
between heaven and earth, between the spiritual and the
physical, between the profane and the holy like the
shattering of the tablets that were given to Moshe by G-d.
It is a powerful image, and one that touches something
very deep within us all.
The Midrash says, “That as G-d told Moshe to head down
from the mountain, the Angels looked to ambush and kill
him…” Why was this the case? Did Angels really try to do
this? A Midrash is not to be taken literally, and so the
message must be found elsewhere. I believe that the
anger of the Angels towards Moshe is representative of
the taking a piece of heaven (the 10 Commandments)
and making them a part of earth. Once again, the clash
between spirit and flesh is as true, as it is ancient.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Aaron Flanzraich
