Beth Jacob Weekly Schedule -- May 20, 2015 Adult Education Reading Prayer Book Hebrew We are having a class on Friday, May 22 at 5:15 pm. Spring Learning – “WHY”? We are continuing our Spring adult education series, Thursday, May 21, at 1:30-3:00, at Beth Jacob, entitled, “WHY”. We will focus on the differing beliefs about God and other “Jewish” things found among the denominations. Upcoming Events May 23: Tikkun L’el Shevuot -- 8:00 PM On Saturday night, May 23, at 8:00 pm, the Eastern Connecticut Jewish Community will be observing the first night of Shevuot at Beth El Synagogue during which we will engage in the 500+ year tradition of “Studying” – and there will be “traditional” and “non-traditional” avenues of study -- in commemoration of the giving of the Torah to the Israelites that we celebrate on this holiday. See Flyer on Beth Jacob web site for more details. May 24/25: Shevuot Services Sunday, May 24, 8:00 am. First day of Shevuot, Shacharit service. Mondy, May 25, 9:00 am. Second day of Shevuot, Shacharit service, with a Yizkor service. May 29: “Peace” Kabbalat Shabbat Service and Dinner On Friday night, May 29, Beth Jacob will be hosting approximately 10-15 people who are in the midst of a “peace” walk in memory of the Sandy Hook children and teachers lost on that tragic day. They will be joining us for a “Shabbat dinner” at 6:45 pm; following a special, inter faith ecumenical pr ayer for Shalom ¸ beginning at 6:00 pm. If you would like to join with us for the dinner and share in the experiences that our guests have had, please make your reservations with the Office no later than Tuesday, May 26.
