The Annual Lenten Station Mass will
be celebrated in St. Matthew’s Church,
Bishopbriggs, Tuesday, 3 March,
7.30pm. Fr. Robert Hill will be principal
celebrant. St. Matthew’s Parish
Community would like to extend its
warmest welcome to everyone.
Refreshments in the hall afterwards.
Although the Archbishop will not be
presiding, it is an important deanery
event, and I warmly encourage you to
attend the Mass so that we can
celebrate our faith together with the
other parishes in the deanery. There
will be a bus leaving the Church at 6pm
prompt and will pick up passengers
from the other Cumbernauld parishes.
With only one student for the
priesthood for Glasgow we have much
to pray for never mind the poverty,
violence and injustice of our world and
the impending vote in Parliament on
Assisted Suicide. If you would like to
travel on the bus, please sign up at the
back.
Jubilee Year of Martyrdom of St.
John Ogilvie Plenary Indulgence
The Vatican has declared that 2015
will be celebrated as a Jubilee Year in
St. Andrew’s Cathedral; St. Aloysius,
Garnethill & St Jude’s & St. John
Ogilvie’s, Barlanark. Anyone who
attends a liturgy in honour of St. John
Ogilvie in one of these Churches and
anyone who privately visits one of
these churches and prays the Our
Father, Hail Mary, Apostles’ Creed,
and a prayer in honour of St John
may obtain a Plenary Indulgence,
under the usual conditions of
Confession, Communion and a Prayer
for the Pope.
The Novena to St. John Ogilvie will
take place every morning after Mass
beginning on Sunday 1 March and
concluding on Tues 9 March.
NO MASS AT 9.30AM this Tuesday
3rd March. There will be Mass at
8.30am Mass in the school, as I will
also be concelebrating the Lenten
Station Mass. Since a priest is only
permitted to celebrate Mass twice on
a week-day, unless there are special
circumstances, there will be NO
MORNING MASS IN THE PARISH. If
you cannot make the Mass in the
school, it would be good to attend a
Mass in a neighbouring parish. There
is no better way to keep Lent.
“Of Gods and Men” this Monday
2nd March at 8.15pm a DVD - will
be shown in the hall. This powerful
and affecting film tells the story of a
group of Cistercian monks living in
the remote mountains of North
Africa, seven of whom died as
martyrs for the faith. Because of their
love for Christ and for the
communities they served they
refused to flee and waited and
prayed.
OLH School—Educational Trust
Scheme Movin’ & Giving will be
